I'm sure it'll work either way. I did mine like the op did. Passenger tapped behind a pillar. Driver side like is on post #84
I was planning to, but the guy said follow the OPs post but then said he did something that the OP did not mention or do. So I just want to make sure I know for sure what I am doing.

Did mine from pax side also. Couldn't find the right one on driver side....

I think I am ok now with the original taps from the single end of the wire, but now I am still confused about the double end, am I taping into 2 separate wires with the double end? (seems most logical) or is it to one?

I wish the OP would reply :(

Thanks to all the great guys trying to help. I've been out of pocket. I just sent a PM so that he can contact me directly for any help. All instructions and corrections are posted , but I'm not the greatest when it comes to grammar .😊😊😊👍👍

The confusion about the headliner may be my fault. I was doing this mod at the same time I installed cab lights. Since I already had the headliner down, I just tapped the parking lights in the passenger side pillar and ran a wire above the headliner and down the driver side pillar. You don't have to do it this way. I did it that way because I already had the headliner down.

I'm sure Tverde has you straightened out (he was very helpful when I did this a few weeks ago), but if you haven't figured out the Y yet, here's my simple explanation....

The wire you installed and tapped Into the parking light will connect to the side of the Y with the diode and resistor. The wire coming out of the black panel for the turn signal will be cut and connected to the other wide of the Y that only has the diode. Then you'll connect the single end of the Y to that wire you just cut that runs up to the mirror.

Be sure you cut the correct wire. It's black with a light gray or white tracer, but on my truck there were two of those. I recommend putting a tester on it to make sure you have the right one before you cut it.

Thank you, that helped a lot. So let me be clear here. The black with gray wire I cut in half so to speak, then I connect both sides of my Y to it, one to each end. But, I need to make sure the wire end coming OUT OF THE BLACK BOX is then connected to the side of the Y with only the diode? then the side of the Y with the diode and resistor is connected to the other half I cut? Is that correct or am I understanding this wrong?

No.

You're correct that the wire coming out of the black box connects to the side that only has the diode. The side with the diode and resistor will connect to the wire you tapped into the parking lights and ran into your door. The "other half" of that black/white wire you cut will be connected to the leg of the wire that has nothing on it. Got it?

Now its not making sense again, because looking at this picture from the OP, both ends of the Y wire, one with the diode and one end with the diode and resister are both connected into the door, but your saying different right?

Honestly, I can't really tell what's going on in that picture. I see the black/white wire coming out of the box but I can't see where the other end is connected.

That said, what I told you above is correct. Here are your connections:

Black/white wire coming out of box connects to the leg of the Y with only the diode.

Wire you installed that taps into the parking lights connects to the leg of the Y that has both the diode and the resistor.

The third leg of the Y that has nothing on it connects to the black/white wire you cut that goes up to the mirror. If you install.

Also, be sure your diodes are facing the correct the direction. The diagram on the first page shows how they should go. Get them backwards and the mirror light won't work at all.

Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks again, eventually we will figure this out, however, what you are saying is conflicting with what the OP said in his post and his picture, look.

"Then on the door there is a black box locate the harness that goes to your mirror . Ther is a black wire with a white tracer on one door the other door has a black wire with grey tracer. Will cut there and instal your diodes and resistor set up. U used a couple of connectors at this joint just incase I want to remove it in the future . I have a set of tow mirrors I will be installing soon."

He said both the diode side and resistor/diode side are in the door with the black wire, but you are saying that diode/resistor end is in the parking light tap.

It's been a while since I did mine. But I'm pretty sure the wire that you ran into the door to power the marker light. Is the one that u use with the diode / resistor leg.

I think he was just saying the place where you cut the wire is where you're going to install the Y you made.

If you connect both ends of the black/white wire you cut to legs with diodes then it won't work. A diode allows current to go one direction but not the other, so if you put a diode on the black/white wire going up to the mirror then you're essentially blocking the current. You'd end up making all your parking lights flash with your turn signal.

Ok, lets try another approach.

Here are the 2 wires I just made, don't I join the left sides of these both together to one long wire that goes threw the door? Then the other Y end (2 sided) in the door?

Both the turn and side marker incoming wires take a diode. The white line on the diode goes towards the mirror this prevents feed back from one to the other. The resistor goes on the incoming side marker wire. This make the side marker just a little dimmer than the turn signal , so that u can tell them apart when their both on.
Hope this helps. View attachment 55473

I saw that, I read every post on here 30 times and still there are SO many things not clear here. Pictures do not make sense with the text. My pictures are not showing up? they are for me?

Try hooking it up like I said and test it. As long as you have your diodes going the right direction it'll work. In fact, there's only ONE way you can hook it up and get the desired results. Worst case just do the trial and error method until it works.
