This mod is very easy and inexpensive .
Parts list.
1. 2-100ohm 1/2 watt resistor
2. 4- 200v diode
3.heat shrink
4.20 gauge wire
5. 2-Red 16 gauge T taps.
6. 2- red mail spade conectors.
First locate the wires for the park lamps.
On the left side will be the Head light switch.
There is a panel on the left side of the dash that lets you access the wires behind the switch. Use a T Tap to tap into the orange wire with a gray tracer.
Then on the right side you will tap into the wire under the pull handle on the windshield pillar the same way. The wire is white with a green tracer.
Then you will run both wire on each side down to the door pillar and through the rubber boot that leads to the door.
The easiest way to get the wire threw is to use a long pair of needle nose pliers .
I took a diode and a resistor and soldered them in series, your set should look like this. Except you will use
100 ohm .
And where the brake light goes will be the input for your blinker out of the black box on the door. The wire that shows going to LED should go to your mirror.
Should look like this.
If u
Your not good at soldering you can get the telephone wire connectors at radio shack .
Then on the door there is a black box locate the harness that goes to your mirror . Ther is a black wire with a white tracer on one door the other door has a black wire with grey tracer. Will cut there and instal your diodes and resistor set up. U used a couple of connectors at this joint just incase I want to remove it in the future . I have a set of tow mirrors I will be installing soon. View attachment 50630
Great write up!! Any idea about just wiring the blinkers to be running lights? My blinkers don't work as I switched from regular (no lights) mirror to tows with lights. Wanted to get them to light up with cab lights. Thanks in advance.
U should be able to locate the park lights the same way and run the wires threw the rubber boots and connect strait to the mirrors via the black wires with white tracer and grey tracer
Just wanted to give a HUGE shout out and thank you for this write up. Especially the behind the scenes help to get this done! Thank you!!! I really like how easy you made it and that they flash together.arty018:
I was just wondering if you could explain to me how this works. I have been looking to find a way to do this. I must be overlooking how this works. Thanks
Still have not got time but hoping tomorrow I get at this, looks great!
Quick question , since my mirrors were ad ons I'm wondering if instead of just lighting them up I can make them blink too? Would that be to complicated?
I figured I just tap into my cab lights to light them up , sure be nice to make them blink tho. Thanks
Can I just run off my park lights and tie into the mirrors lights to get them to work all the time or will it mess with my blinkers on my mirrors then.. or will all my park lights flash when I turn my blinkers on because I tied into the blinkers
