62mm turbo or a set of twins. I wanted to do 150HP dfi injectors, quadzilla, built 47re,studs,springs. I tow my 8000lbs camper, daily driver, fun street truck. RELIABLE. 450-500hp. Quick spool.would prefer to use the stock turbo and another if i go with twin route. Which should I use.

A 62/65/12 will be fun and handle all duties at you desired power.

A 62/65/14, will be SLIGHTLY less in towing, but more fun on the big end.

Single 62mm turbo should do all you want and more. Unless you just really want twins and don't care about spending a lot more money. DAP and DFI both sell combo 62mm turbo and 150hp injectors for less than you would spend on a twin kit alone.

I run a PhatShaft 62/65/.80 (14) single and it is a little slow to spool but once you get into the 1800-2000 RPM it kicks in pretty hard. When it comes to towing, your EGTs will run hot on the top end or at least mine do. I was hitting 1400 EGTs up the Mountain passes in Colorado pulling 6,000 LB. I just had to back off the throttle and slow down to 55-60 MPH and I would be ok. Others have suggested to stay in the higher RPMs when towing and you will avoid the EGTs. The ONLY problem I have had with this Turbo is when towing in the Mountains. I bet the 62/65/.70 (12) would spool quicker but would not provide as much support on the top end but may be cooler as far as EGTs go. The 62mm is a great turbo in my opinion and for daily tows of 10,000 pounds it does just fine.

If you can afford twins it's a better route. You have to push a 62 pretty hard to hit 500hp. If you manage to get 500 out of it, egts will be so high you can't use it anyway. Ask me how I know.

I'm assuming by your post you did, was it on your 62/65/12? What was your set up? I am curious because I run the 62/65/14 and would like to see what you did.

This looks like English, smells like English, taste's like English, must be English. BUT I DON"T UNDERSTAND ANY OF IT !!!!!
I'll hang around another 6 months or so and figure it out by continuing to read posts I'm guessing. But wow sounds like code you wind talkers! Carry on! :confused013:

62mm - pros - cheaper and easier install. cons - slower spool(which is worse for towing and narrower power band), EGTs will be more of an issue, lower "ceiling" for growth

Twins(hx35/s472 or bht3b). pros - faster spool, EGTs will be easier to control, wider power band, better for towing, room to grow. cons - more expensive and much more involved install

Got it! Well sort of!!
Turbine A/R - (Area/Radius) Turbine performance is greatly affected by changing the A/R of the housing, as it is used to adjust the flow capacity of the turbine. Using a smaller A/R will increase the exhaust gas velocity into the turbine wheel. This provides increased turbine power at lower engine speeds, resulting in a quicker boost rise. However, a small A/R also causes the flow to enter the wheel more tangentially, which reduces the ultimate flow capacity of the turbine wheel. This will tend to increase exhaust backpressure and hence reduce the engine's ability to "breathe" effectively at high RPM, adversely affecting peak engine power.

Conversely, using a larger A/R will lower exhaust gas velocity, and delay boost rise. The flow in a larger A/R housing enters the wheel in a more radial fashion, increasing the wheel's effective flow capacity, resulting in lower backpressure and better power at higher engine speeds.

When deciding between A/R options, be realistic with the intended vehicle use and use the A/R to bias the performance toward the desired powerband characteristic.

I run a 62-68/12 fmw. EGTs when towing heavy 10,000 lbs stay around 1100-1250 climbing. Starts to spool around 1500. If you are going to go with a single, I would go with a 62-68/12 SXE, flows better than a FMW. I'm over 500 and don't have any EGT issues and it spools better and runs cooler than the old 62-65/12 ever did.

I'd at least run a 369 sx-e for the the primary. Your combo should work, but... twins have SO much more potential than you are going to get with a 464 plus the difference in price is negligible.

I had 75hp inectors with the 62-65/12
I have 125s with the 62-68/12 that have a P-pump pop pressure setting, so the HP numbers might be slightly higher. My set up is for towing purposes.

Skip the billet hx35 wheel.

If 500HP is your goal the s464 will work fine. A 467.7 or 472 would be better, but id adds a few bills and would not expect more than +50HP worth of air since the hx35 is the biggest limitation. If you were to go bigger on the s400 then step up to some 200HP or so injectors.

I'm not familiar with those. I went with DPS.
I just sold my 62 68 for 750. The guy who bought it might not want it, because he has a 12v.

You can run 150- 200. Without issues.
Sorry, I don't know of a quadzilla, but their price is a really good deal.
