Hello fella's I just bought a 2014 2500 with a 6.7 and 26400 miles on it . Driving the other night it kicked the p20ee code out. I took it to the dealership and they called me today and said they have to replace the catalytic converter. Is this a normal procedure for that code?

Type P20EE in the forum's search box......and you'll find a few threads regarding that exact topic.

They are replacing the cat and deleting the ammonia sensor and reprogramming it. So I think it should be resolved hopefully!! So I've read on here.

Is there any issue with driving the truck with the code? I was getting check engine light on and off. Now it is on full time and I had it read. I am in FL and need to go to Chicago next week so I don't have time to bring it to a dealer yet.

I had mine P20EE come on a week or so ago and did not notice any issues continuing to drive it. I read it with my code reader, but did not erase it. I couldn't get into the dealer right away, so I went in and erased it because it was bugging me. So... when I did get into the dealer a few days ago to get all my Recalls done, I told them about it and showed them pictures of the CEL and Code readout (on my Reader). But they would not address it, change anything, etc., because I did not bring it in with the CEL on showing that Code. So next time, I'll just leave it on and come in. Or perhaps I'll just get lucky and it was a fluke and it won't come back on. Not a big deal one way or the other, since emissions are covered for quite some time still.

You should be fine. Service Manager told me the Emission components affected by the P20EE are covered by 8yr/80k warranty.

That's some good news. Will have to bring truck to a dealer. Every truck I have ever taken to the dealer was damaged in some way. This time I will use my phone to take pix with a geo stamp of every part of exterior right in their parking lot so I don't get "that was here when you brought the truck in". Sad.

I had the same issue! CEL light came on went to dealership told me not to drive the truck untill it was fixed! So I left it there, they replaced SCR and removed the Ammonia sensor! Bonus was they received a new shipment of brackets for the Front Track Bar Frame Brackets so they installed that as well!

Glad they fixed my truck but getting really annoyed with the recalls and CEL's!

Stopped back at the dealership today. Tech plugged in as I explained all my previous issues & how I'd deleted the codes myself. He was pretty sympathetic. Ran a test that forced a partial regen. Truck failed the test. They'll be replacing the SCR under warranty next Thursday. No problems at all. Tech & service manager were both very helpful and seemed extremely willing to make everything right. I did not buy my truck from this dealer, but I'll surely pay them a visit when I'm in the market again.

Well..... so much for hoping it wouldn't come back (P20EE). Made it a whole 4 days and 200 miles or so before it came on again. But this time, I'm leaving the CEL on so they can actually see & read it themselves. Pretty darn annoying though that they would not take the pictures/date stamped as proof earlier in the week:spank:. Was on my way to the Keys for a long weekend. Turned around simply because I'm not willing to risk it causing me to get stuck somewhere down there (although I could think of worst places to be stuck at:wink2:). Hopefully they'll replace the culprits this time.

So you've also been clearing the code yourself? Maybe they'll run this forced partial regen test like they did mine. Fail it & you get a new SCR and one less ammonia sensor lol. Good luck!

Back on the road again. New Cat, removed sensor, etc... All good! Honestly, between the recalls, TSB's, and now this, I'm happy overall with how both the Dealer and FCA has handled all this. Thumbs up to them!

New SCR one less sensor, all warrantied. Didn't get R46 complete. Apparently the tech broke his drill last week, so they couldn't do it then. Today the tool guy didn't show up until 300 and I needed the truck at 530. Back to the dealer next week. Pretty pleased with the service manager & tech that's dealt with the truck. Solid people, nice surprise.

I got the code P20EE also, Has anyone had the stealership try to not fix it under warranty? I am a little worried that they are going to say its my fault for putting def from the truck stops. My truck is completely stock except for rear airbags. 2015 3500 Dually tradesman. I hot shot for a living with it.

If it's the SCR that's covered 8yrs/80K miles. If they say it's due to bad DEF make them prove it. Just had my SCR replaced and also one less ammonia sensor all under warranty. Odessa? I'm originally from Monahans. Small world. Good luck!

Now I have a message that says "perform service". No other info. What good is the evic t can't give codes, any info when check engine light is on, and a super generic message like perform service?

I am very lucky at least that the 5.9's in my boat have zero electronics. I will keep them going forever.

I just got back from a little 65 mile trip and got a P20EE code 5 miles from the house. I took a picture and cleared the code before reading this thread and seeing that the dealers aren't taking pictures as proof. Hopefully it never comes on again, but thats just wishful thinking.

well, after a month of waiting on the stealership, and waiting on the service associate to finally answer my numerous phone calls and emails, They have told me that if I pass on the $1900 charge for dropping the DEF tank to clean it and clean the lines out, That they will not cover the injector or the catalytic converter so I am being forced to either pay the $1900 or delete everything and ruin my warranty and extended warranty. I really don't understand how they can make me pay for labor but not parts. I have had a def truck for about 5 years now and have never had a problem in the 3 trucks until now. AND now I finally see why everyone I know despises the damn things. Moral of the lesson is to take your vehicle to the stealership to fill with def so when they say it was faulty def fluid you can say it was there fault and they can give you another excuse why not to take care of their customers.

I did, when Dodge initially said they would not cover it. They told me what they usually do in these instances is to call my insurance company. I did, they sent out a 3rd party lab company to analyze it, and they did. It came back that there was nothing wrong with the def fluid so they denied my claim. Dodge pretty much said oh well, we don't cover that.
