A Country Cummins *Build Thread
We'll after what i just went threw the last couple days. This craps not happening again lol.
Picked up my '93 cummins 4x4 a couple weeks ago. Right off the bat on the 6 hour drive home the front crank seal blows out and all my oil pukes out on the way home. Not a good way to start with a new truck.
Get it on the lift at home to do an inspection, steering shaft is shot needs replaced badly. and found a welded frame that looked like it was done by a 2 year old. Sketchyyyyyy. and needed a brake job
Fixed the front seal, and decided to deal with the somewhat squishy brakes and steering shaft for a little bit. Took it out on a country road, 14 miles out of town, in the middle of the night. Boom. transmission is gone. Im stranded. Spent the night in the truck, at the crack of dawn i spent 6 hours hiking 14 miles back to town because the cell phone was dead and couldnt call for help.
Truck sat out in the Mt. Hood national forest for 5 days until about an hour ago when i finally got a buddy with a en duramax out there to drag my broken down truck back to the main road so i could load her up on a trailer.
needless to say, im done F'ing around.
theres so many things wrong with this truck right now, im not even going to address them until they come along in this thread.
Full restoration, Fixing every thing sketchy, broken parts repaired, ditching weak transmissions, and building an ultimate first gen starts NOW. Pictures!
Day 1. Picked her up out of Spokane, WA (6 hours away from me)
yes its a really ugly bumper...
Day 2. Checking out the underside where i found some ugly problems....
Day 3, installed the Indash Screen.
and for the next week i just racked up about 2,000 miles and enjoyed the truck.
Untill last monday when she broke down out there in the middle of no where.
duramax doing work tonight getting me out of the canyon and back to a main road so i can load her up on the trailer.
So starting tomorrow, the full restoration, and rebuild begins.
I've already picked up a complete mint parts truck. $425....
93 4x4, 173k Miles, super straight for its age. clean title, runs fantastic, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. only down side is its a gas motor. But i only bought it for the straight front end and straight bed. I'll probably put the dented back on it and sell it as a work house and triple my money on it haha.
More soon as progress starts ASAP.
Starting with a NV4500 or 5600 swap. I haven't quite made up my mind on which yet...
