How to set TPMS to ANY pressure

Ok guys.... I've done this on several trucks now and have confirmed it will work on any 2014+ and on any model (I have not tried it on C&C yet). You will have to have this done at a dealer. Print this and take it in and they should be able to change your settings and turn off the light. It takes about 10 minutes.

Step 1: Go into the BCM (body control module). Go to "miscellaneous functions". Go to "update pressure thresholds". Set pressure to desired settings. Do not try to do different pressures front and back! Even if you run 10 psi difference front to back you won't get a light. If you plan to run 10 psi difference I suggest your "setting" be in the middle of the high and low just to give you a little cushion.

Step 2: Go into the RFH (radio frequency hub). Go to "miscellaneous functions". Perform "RFH replace" and follow prompts. You will need the PIN number for the truck. That can be obtained through Dealer Connect with the vin number to the truck. When following the prompts - when asked for desired pressure setting - set new pressure levels. You do not need to replace anything - just perform the function to set new levels.

I have not had to drive the truck - once the RFH replace function is done the light goes out and the truck is reading new pressures.

Done!!

Also, I have had issues with the upgraded alloy wheels and the TPMS sensors. Specifically, the valve stem is a new shape that does not fit the universal TPMS valve stem :banghead:. All you need to do is carefully file down the corners to shape the brass fitting so it will fit in the sensor. Once it's screwed into place everything is secure and there are no issues. The universal valve stems are about a buck a piece. Dealer cost on the new "updated" valve stem is about 25 bucks :shock: (yeah - I'm out! LOL).

This should take care of and answer any questions/issues when changing to custom wheels/tires. I got started down this path with information from another string on the same topic. There was a tech on here that had described the procedure vaguely but I couldn't find his post (if you read this - THANKS). So - this is not my idea originally - just a more descriptive set of instructions you can take to your local dealer. Hope this clears up all the confusion on the topic.

we've tried this at my dealership many times, but it never actually "took", and on some trucks the option ain't even there anymore in the BCM...

anyway, we never tried the "RFH replace" routine afterwords though...so if we get one in complaining, i'm gonna try that...is it only 13 up though? or can it work back to say 10?

either way, thanks for the info

also, to anyone who is thinking about having this done, expect to pay at least a half hour, or possibly 1 hour, depending on the policy of the dealer

DodgeMech - My tech tells me the 13 and older configuration is different than 14+. Right now I've only worked and researched the 14+ since that's what I'm focused on building at the moment. He also tells me on the 14+ trucks the configuration is the same across the board on the different models so in theory it should work on anything. Of course - that's the theory. If anyone has a different issue I'd like to know what model it is so I can dig into it.

Ltngdrvr - Yes - I've done this on 2500 and 3500 series gas and diesel trucks. I also did it on a 1500 series and it worked (although I'm not building the little trucks yet)....

I'd like to figure out a way to simply disable the TPMS. I check my tires regularly and don't need it, but have to look at the stupid light if I want to run lower air pressures (or if one of the sensors isn't reading, which is the case right now - no big deal but it's a hassle to take it in).

My wife drives a Pilot we've had for more than five years. 60,000+ miles and not one issue with TPMS - works flawlessly. Honda may suck at airbags but they seem to be better at TPMS than Ram.

Update: I just ran into a truck we had to drive in order for the light to go out. I am sure it's because we didn't drive the truck with the wheels/tires/sensors before we did the above procedure. I drove the truck without the sensors (long story) and then we did the build and reprogrammed everything.... Drove it less than a mile and bingo - no light.

Very cool! I will get a hold of my neighbor who is a tech and let him know. I know he tried to do something similar to my truck before but couldn't get it to work.

But he wasn't at the dealer, just in my garage. His computer wasn't hooked up to the dealer wifi etc.. so I will see if I can meet him next weekend at his place of work :)

^^^ You have to have the PIN number to the truck and be plugged into Witech. The PIN number is only good for 12 hours then it resets so it's not something you can go get once and keep it around. You change the Evic settings in the BCM then when you do the RFH replace function (that's where the PIN is needed) the BCM tells the RFH what set points to keep....

He is bringing the Witech home with him. Does it need to be connected via dealership wifi?

I just planned on him getting the pin and then when he gets off - coming over and setting my TPMS. That is not. No need for the pin at a later date..

You are right. Well find out in a couple of hours here..

DO you know if I need to make the light turn off before changing the setting? I know it was previously said in order for the change to work on another thread, the lights had to be off/tires set to correct pressure.

Do you know if you are able to change this in the system with the trouble-codes reading a low tire?

The light doesn't matter. The truck I just did last night had the light on and codes set. I ran the procedure then drove the truck about a half mile and the light went out. When I brought it back we cleared the stored codes and all done....

You do need to have the tires set to the pressures you want. As I said earlier - if you're running different front to back I wouldn't go more than 10 psi and I would put the setting between the 2.

I guess on the next ruck I need to try a setting with different pressures front to rear and see if it works....

I have my truck in the BCM set to 50psi. Says fill tires to 50 psi front and rear. But of course truck is still looking for 75/80psi..

So I'll make sure the tires are at 50PSI before doing this.

HELL YEAH! Fixed it!

This step:

After going to the RFH hub, this option never came up. Said do a key cycle before starting. Did that - boom. Fixed! :)

Here was the step after going into RF hub and selecting replace. Asked for the pin, said confirm pin is correct, cause 3 bad attempts will lock the system. Press next - said reading and then this..

Haha, yeah. If there is any way the dealer can "goober" it up, they will. Need instructions a two year old could follow.

I wonder if it's a question if they are 'allowed' to do this change.

I am going to try to get this done for a friend of mine here shortly. I can do a video.. The only problem is getting the PIN number.

Speaking of PIN number, my guy said the pin number only changes for Jeeps. He hasn't seen a PIN number of RAM change.
