Hey Guys~
I'm tired of the squealing so going to turn the front rotors and replace the pads. Wanted opinions on pads. I've had EBC pads before on my 1/2 ton and they were fine, wouldn't say they were THAT much better than stock but a definite improvement. Searched for threads on EBC and didn't see many with good reviews but Hawk was mentioned several times butI don't have any experience with them. They're all in the $100 range so no real price advantage goes to either. Was hoping for some real world feedback? Thanks!

I guess it depends on what ebc pads you're running. The yellow stuff pads work amazing but create a ton of dust but don't last very long. I ran ebc yellow pads on my old truck then tried hawk and personally found the ebc to perform much better...they do wear super quick though

I have the EBC greens front and rear, didnt turn the rotors as the wear was great, got 70k miles out of my stock front pads and 80k miles out of my stock rear pads, about to turn 90k miles and fronts look to be 80-85% and rear are 95+ still. Stopping was greatly improved, noticed it most when towing heavy (12k+), unloaded they stop a good bit quicker but nothing to write home about. I would buy them again over the stockers.

I had a set of Porterfield R4-S on my old VW, I really liked them. They were low noise, low dust, and they had good bite.
Granted it's an apples to oranges comparison, but enough of an good experience that I'm willing to try them on my truck when the time comes.

I have run both hawk and EBC (yellow) on my 2011. Both were better than OEM, Hawk was the best hands down. AS stated above though, lots of dust and some occasional squeal. When its time my 2016 will get Hawk pads, I can deal with the dust and minimal noise for the greatly improved braking.

thanks for all the responses guys, looks like they both get a thumbs up so now it's time to decide. not sure which way I'll go but appears either will be an improvement over stock.

I ran EBC yellows on my 15 Ram and they DESTROYED the rotors in no time and had horrendous dust. I can't even remember how fast it was, I want to say we put them on with 5k miles and at 15k I had to put new front rotors on the truck. I'd never run them again on anything other than a track car. I think I replaced them with Hawk HPS pads.

I recently installed EBC GreenStuff pads on my 2015. 6000's on rear, 7000's on front. I replaced the OEM pads because they were squealing (47k miles on them). I tried the Hawk SD pads and they made it a little easier to stop (less pedal pressure required) but they also squealed. So I am now trying the GreenStuff pads. The stopping power, at least when empty, feels like double the OEM pads. That may be the top coating they put on for bedding. We will see how they are after they are fully bedded. EBC says 200 miles of urban driving then some hard 60mph-20mph stops to complete the bedding process. No squealing so far. If they do, I will replace the rotors.

I'm currently running Hawks on my truck, no dust, no squeal, great stopping and so far i really like them. The no dust portion could be explained by my having a dually, with the rims being a different shape/design and being placed further away from the rotors, that could explain the lack of visible dust. No dust on the interior of the rim as well

Here are the exact pads i'm currently running

I researched quite a bit and found the ebc stuff didn't get great reviews. I ended up getting the wagner severe duty because I tow quite a bit. I havent put them on yet do to ac issues. Going to try tomorrow.

I ran EBC Greens on an older truck and they left a crap load of dust. Staying away from EBC when I change out mine soon.

I have Hawk Red pads ('94 Ford spindles and brakes) on my 2nd gen, I like them, quiet, and last a long time.. I have about 50,000 miles on them, I use the engine brake a lot, but they're like new still.

Don't bother turning the rotors, new ones can be had so cheap it's not worth it, at least for 2nd gens and the Ford ones I'm running
