I like the looks of that. Hopefully someone knows something about this. It would be a nice upgrade from the tradesman radio. I know it says it keeps the steering wheel controls but I'm wondering about the hookups in the console

I think it will not have the possibility of plugging into the OEM Sirius antenna?? Not sure....

This means that in order to listen to satellite radio, you need to either use an external satellite tuner and plug into the AUX cables in the rear of the radio, or use the bluetooth streaming feature from a smartphone using the free Sirius/XM app.

You will have to cut a small metal bracket behind the OEM radio but its not a big deal.

Based on the video and the website you loose Sirius. Thats too bad because 80% of my listening is that, but I like everything else about this unit. Unless I missed something.

I have the crappy 3.0 with absolutely no options so this radio is a big jump for me. And I was just at my local stereo installers shop today and he told me as of now there is nothing that he can do or want to do. I would like SAT. but pandora will do and I want the bluetooth. So looking into buying one. There are not many options for these trucks. And this radio has a calculator which i would use

So far best options are cutting the dash and putting in double din after the free subscription is up. Sometimes the aftermarket will come with a limited free time Sirius. When my free part is up that's what I think I will do unless something better comes along.

Something ill be looking into over the next few months. My sirius has been expired for a little while anyways, not worth the money IMO, id rather pay for extra data and stream pandora or something.

Looking forward to it 13-3500

That, and the additional facts that it runs Windows CE and appears to be for overseas markets (108.8 Mhz station and label "BBC RADIO" in screen shot below):

It is interesting that they also have the only perfect-fit replacement for the 3rd gen REF radio that I've ever seen offered on their web site, although the price is too high for my taste.

You may also want to google "S100" and "vcdc" for additional info on identifying the manufacturer or shopping for a better price.....

After further digging, it appears to be an entire product line of custom-fit units based on a standard hardware platform and either Windows CE (S100) or Android (S150):

Winca-Roadnav S100/S150 - XDA-Developers

Guangzhou Zhihang Electronics Technology Co.,LTD

Amazon has some listed, mostly shipping from China. The reviews are mixed, with buggy being mentioned more than once. Looking at Alibaba, many of them are being offered with cracked maps databases on SD cards. I did locate a web site where people were grabbing custom firmware updates. There is supposedly a way to hack the Android firmware onto the Windows CE units, which may provide the means to run an OBD-II app for gauges and diagnostics on the radio screen. I do like the dashcam recording interface idea that both S100 and S150 support.

The price is a little bit steep, especially if you have to scrounge around Chinese/Russian web sites looking for custom firmware (ROMs) that may be illegal hacked copies or have trojans embedded. I might consider buying one to replace the factory REF radio in my 3rd gen, but the price isn't selling it for me when I factor in the possible work necessary to make it usable.....

Looks nice but without XM and you probably won't be able to use the ipod connector in the center console I will have to wait a little longer to see if anything else comes out on the market.

There are aftermarket dash mount kits and harnesses available to mount any double DIN radios although the dash brace has to be cut to make it fit, which seems to be a non-issue strength wise. Then I'm sure a solution for the oem sirius antenna can be found or made.

Got it in the mail today and just my luck I dropped my truck off at the dealer today for a CEL and abs recall. It was due for its every other month service work. so hope I get my truck back tomorrow and will get it installed that night

OK got it installed tonight and actually very impressed. First off I have had aftermarket radios in every vehicle I have ever owned and this was the EASIEST one that I have ever installed. 10 minutes total :party018: The stock speakers do sound better but new ones are not far behind. The look is very stock and the functions are super easy. I have always used Garmin GPS units and so far I am liking this GPS, the test will be tomorrow when I go up to O'hare for a job. The bluetooth syncs the phone super fast, like by the time the radio starts playing the phone is sync'ed. You do lose the USB in the center console but I never used it anyway. I need to go get a backup camera now. My last touch screen was a pioneer and I hated operating it this radio is super easy and has a ton of options. Tomorrow is the big test, will be doing 300 miles and I am always on the phone driving. After having the 3.0 radio this thing is awesome

Is that one using the iGo Primo navigation?

How fast is the interface? Does it lag at all? Are you able to choose with options are displayed on the main screen?

USB cable and Ipod Cable from the back. I drilled a hole in the top of the right side cubby hole and popped the cables out.

Still playing with the options

will post tomorrow

I have a couple questions...
I understand it has a feature "pop" that allows for more then one function to display at the same time. I was wondering can you still listen to music or control an attached iphone or radio while still using the gps with a destination set?
Also, regarding to the gps.. When entering a destination, do you have to spell out the town or will it allow zip code input?

Thanks in advance
Vince

If it's anything like mine, you can listen to music from whatever source you are using and use the nav at the same time.

That unit though, apparently allows you to view a video at the same time as the nav on a split screen which is pretty neat.

As far as destination input, I don't believe there is zip code input, but it does do predictive text so you don't have to completely spell out the city name.

A couple more questions I just thought of,
Does the hands free calling work when an iPhone is connected to the cable or does it only work via bluetooth?

And, If anyone has set up their phone as a hotspot and connected the radio using the optional wifi adapter. My thinking is if the head unit has a web browser could you theoretically use web listening for SiriusXM? Also, could the web browser still be opened while streaming SiriusXM and use the Nav at the same time?

Maybe I am asking to much from this head unit..lol

I would rather go with the iPad mini mount method with a head unit behind but that would take a lot of fabrication because there is limited space between the vents on the 13-15 trucks. The 2012 and under have plenty of room between the vents.
