I am flying up to Anchorage (Palmer) for a week in November (10th-19th) for a vacation/ Job hunting trip.

What are some things I have to do around there for that short period of time? I hear ice fishing is out of the question for that time of year from a friend from Wasilla. Other than hunting, what else is there?

Kinda a dull time of winter to come here, what kind of job hunting you doing

I am a Cummins engine student right now. Trying to land a job with Cummins NW Anchorage. If nothing else, a slope job would be decent for a year or however long my woman can handle me being gone.[/QUOTE]

I live there in Palmer. The Matanuska glacier is pretty neat to go out on. Also, I work on Elmendorf AFB, you being Military could rent a snowmobile or ATV.

Well the trip went great minus a specific event. I learned something...

Palmer is WINDY. Wow was it kickin!

The first day, my buddies and I drove down to Soldotna to hang out with another bud from school. Did some bar hopping. Day 2, went to the beach and skipped some rocks.. Lol.
Headed back north Sunday afternoon.. Long story short, I was the first on scene for an accident on the Seward Highway. Turned out to be a crappy day. I held the old woman until we could get her on a board, but she died before we could get her to the Helicopter.

This past Saturday my buddy and I went to the Hospital to visit the Gentleman who lived. It was an emotional event talking to him, but he was appreciative for the visit.

Anyways, I had an interview, and I got the job when it comes available. So it looks like I will be moving up there in March!
