Alright guys hopefully you can help me out<br />
<br />
Bought my truck in April and about two weeks of driving it my lift pump went out so I got another one and about 2 days later it died will driving it and threw the injection pump code so obviously I went got another one but while installing the new pump I found out it wasn't getting fuel. Come to find out my fuel gauge is broke but we got it going just fine but now I got the other pump sitting out here and i don't know if its broke or would it throw that code just for not getting any fuel at all? Any help at all, thanks!

Used VP's are cores once they come off the engine.<br />
Salvage yard pumps, buddy across town that took off complete engine, setting on dead engine, I don't care. None are worth more than core value and not worth the chance. JMHO of course.

</div>Personally...<br />
<br />
I would never buy a used VP44 unless I was really in a bind and needed one. If you going to sell it be fair with your price and explain the details with the buyer. I know if you wanted to you could send it to any vendor for 300 bucks as a core you'll always make that much.

<div style="font-style:italic">P0216 doesn't necessarily mean the pump is gone. My truck had a fuel leak from the filter housing drain and was drawing in air. It threw the 0216 code. I fixed it, cleared the code, and it hasn't come back. That was several months ago.</div>

Let me start with...<br />
<a href="http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/415-bosch-vp44-injection-pump-requirements" target="_blank">Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Articles - Bosch VP44 Injection Pump Requirements</a><br />
<br />
Then just running out of fuel isn't going to kill a VP44. But now running with low fuel pressure for extended period can and will damage a pump.
