Hey all,

So a few months ago the parts for my shiny new Carli kit finally came in and the Laramie Longhorn was lifted (amazing ride quality, btw). I went with 35" Toyo A/T IIIs and my TPMS are throwing alerts for low pressure (factory settings call for 80 psi but the Toyo's ask for 65 psi).

What's the easiest way to make the alerts go away? Is there an ignition key trick for 2500s or is this only something that can be fixed with a reprogram? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info! I'm an engineer and a pilot which means ignoring the light is an impossibility for me  (besides completely invalidating the purpose of an annunciator).

Look into alfaobd. Just lowered my tpms thresholds recently. Cost 49 bucks for the app and the bluetooth obd thing was about 130 bucks (canadian $). Probably half price if your in the states

Right on. Just to be certain, this is what you're referring to?

And here are the USB and Bluetooth options

Was it difficult to learn the software or is the interface/instructions pretty straight forward?

Before mine was permanently fixed, I just got used to looking at the light. I mean, WTH, you got your Exhaust Brake light on anyway (or should) and I don't drive with my nose stuck in the dash all the time and it's not that obnoxious of a light at all so..... What's the big deal?

I would get in the truck, start it, fasten my seat belt, hit the right/left buttons to kill the obnoxious flashing TPMS light, turn my Exhaust Brake on, scratch my butt, fart......

Then drive it. Did that for 19,000+ miles.

After about a week, you get used to seeing it and you don't pay any attention to it anymore.

For me, it's that fact that, if the light is always on, it's of no use if you actually have a low tire. I'm not big for idiot lights, but, if they're there, it's nice to know they're truly performing their function.

I thought I read in one of these posts that you could not change the TPMS settings on the 2500 but only on the 3500. Although I am very possibly wrong here.

I am sure someone will come along soon enough and give more details.

Yeah you can ignore the light, sure. I wanted mine off. I also needed to install and program an oem trailer brake controller. 2 birds with one stone kinda thing. Got the alpha obd. I chose PC version. Got the SGW unlock, you dont need that for your 2016. I got a hardwire to connect but you can also get the bluetooth obd link. Alpha has suggestions on their site for that. And most importantly, you need your vehicles specific 4 digit pin. The dealer provides this free but you have to physically go there and show registration or proof of ownership. Then google how to set the pressures and you tube will walk you thru the specific steps. Or if I get to a pc and not my phone I may try to locate it for you. No promises..lol. I programmed the trailer brake, reset tire monitors to 30 psi(if I'm below that I might actually want a warning), activated global down, deactivated seatbelts chime, and activated mirror auto tilt on reverse. Now I have everything and alpha will prove to be well worth it in the long run. I see myself using it for many future upgrades. Anyways, yes it can be done, and no it's not hard or too costly.

I cannot confirm if it works but I also saw on the alpha where you can program for tire size which would fix any speedo errors you have with the oversized tires, so may be worth it for you

You just need the OBD MX+ and depending on if you are going to use andriod or windows you need to go to AlfaOBD or the Google store. Also will will need your 4 digit PIN # for your Vin# from the parts department at the dealer. Some dealer try not to give it but some will. Also read up on alfoOBD here AlfaOBD Very long but the first page has a lot of info.

Just to be clear, I need either the OBD MX+ or OBD EX. I understand I don't need both, it's just a matter of whether I want a wired or wireless (Bluetooth) connection, correct?

There is some lee way from 80 psi. You could lower them down around 15% from max pressure. I tried that for awhile, and it allowed me to lower the rear to 65 psi.
But after the tires cool down from driving, if it goes 1 psi under that threshold, then you need to start over. Must inflate tire back to max pressure, then bleed it down again.
I have the AlphaOBD app and I reset my pressures. The truck rides much better since I did that and no more lights.

I have the EX, it is indeed a cable with one end that plugs into the OBD II and the other to my PC. The + is bluetooth. Wifi is available thru your supporting platform- android device or PC. I dont think apha is iPhone compatible.. could be wrong on that one.

Thanks for confirming! And yeah, the device itself wouldn't be WiFi. That refers to the method of connection, rather than a wireless technology (i.e. Bluetooth).

I'm leaning towards the EX (wired connection) since I already have a laptop loaded with Win10 that I keep on the workbench. Thanks again!

Update as of 12/20/20 -
I purchased the EX and downloaded the PC version of AlfaOBD. There wasn't much help getting started with the PC version but I figured it out (it's similar to the Android version but a little clunkier). Actually, the most difficult part was getting the firmware on the EX updated with current drivers. The EX website is really awful but if you update using device manager in Windows it works.

All four corners reprogramed to 51 PSI with the infotainment display updated. No more annoying low PSI warnings. Works like a charm, highly recommend (y)
