For my 1st oil change on my new 3500 2016 I took it to the local dodge dealer. I did the 2nd oil change last night and discovered they used a performax oil filter. This surprised me. I was expecting to see a mopar filter on there. Anyone know who makes this filter? I called the dealer and spoke with the service manager. I was told they only use mopar filters for warranty work and use this performax filter to cut cost and stay competitive in price. Kind of pissed me off...

Thoughts on this and this filter?

I do most of it myself also. I did the oil change and fuel filters last night by myself. I have had a lot of these trucks. I usually do the 1st oil change at dealer just to let them get the gorilla tightened filter off. My mistake for trusting they would use something of quality.

Mopar filter has an anti-drain ball check valve in the filter.....don't know if the performax has one. Make sure you demand Mopar if you bring it in somewhere.

Dealers are always going to keep their costs to a minimum. Id stick to the self oil changes.
