here it guys. last night i was driving down the road to my buddy's house and when i was going down the road i heard a loud pop sounded like it came from the speakers which is why i listed sound system in the title(amp and subs) then my dash lights went real dim. i had to have them adjusted just right to have them come on at all. so i kept driving and i could smell something getting like electrical and then when i pulled into drive and hit the dome light i could smoke in my cab! i drove it today and no problem so its obviously just when the lights are on. where do i start? i am mechanically inclined just in no way shape or form electrically inclined what so ever. so please help!!!

First things first disconnect the wire to the battery for the stereo system. Is it fused? Not guaranteed that its the sound system so don't ignore this after disconnecting power.
Check your heavy wire feeding the amp where it comes through the firewall. Make sure it didn't get chaffed/cut where it passes through the firewall and short out.
