1st of all, maybe this is old, but in all the threads iv'e read about the getrag, I have yet to come upon what I found out today. So here it goes.
Ever find it hard to go from 2nd to 3rd with your getrag? Me too! Well we've all read the threads about getting the 366 spring, granny shifting, double clutching, going clutch-less, winding second all the way up before shifting, and even just holding it by the gate hoping it falls in. Ever been at a red light and just dreading of taking off, knowing that you will hold up traffic hunting for 3rd once you leave 2nd? Well today I was bound and determined to not turn the truck off till I was able to shift from 2nd to 3rd without hunting for the right gate and slowing up traffic. I'm pleased to say I found the solution and can now drive it just like a g56(no problems). Heres the secret, when leaving 2nd hold the shifter all the way to the left and then push up, once you leave 2nd's gate go to the right and up to 3rd. It really is that simple! Ive had trouble with this in both 1st gens iv'e owned, i'm pleased to say no more, iv'e driven like a teenager in Mazda Miata all day no problems! If you already knew this tip just ignore it, if you didn't, go try it I swear it works!
