I would check the fuses and relays

 

i replaced the fuse as well as both head lamp bulbs. still no go.


where are the relays located?

 

Pull the dash apart and take the headlight switch out and look at the back of it to see if it's melted.
No reason the headlight and battery issue should be related...but sounds like the symptoms of a melted headlight switch...very common.

 

thanks. that was my next part i was going to check out. also could the wiring harness be bad? they worked fine the other day and now no headlights but still have running lights and tail lights. They actually seemed brighter with the new fuse.

 

i now have the same symptoms ....almost identical situation....did you resolve this problem? was it the switch?:confused013:

 

Its more than likely the switch. Last week I was plowing non stop for a few days and shut the truck off turned of the lights and started using the snowblower, went to leave 2hrs later and I had running lights and no headlights, long story short put in a new switch and I was good to go

 

I am having the same problem now. Everything worked fine the other day and then I washed my truck(didnt wash under hood) and when I left I had no headlights. Parking lights and fog lights work but no headlights. I checked fuses and everything was fine, replaced the switch on the dash and still nothing. The wires on the back in the harness seem to be fine. Could use some help guys.

 

Always use a meter or test lamp to check fuses.
Just looking doesn't always work.
Remember there are two fuse boxes, one under the hood and one on the side of the dash.

 

Used a tester and checked both fuse boxes. Pulled my bulbs and both were blown. Replaced them and everything works fine now but something caused them to blow. Thinking I have a bare wire somewhere and when I washed my truck it got wet and bam, no lights. Now I just need to spend the time to find the real problem.
