Ok. The truck in my sig is pretty clean underneath..It's actually probably the cleaner underneath out of the 4 94-01 trucks I've had.

That said, it does have some minor surface rust all over. I'd like to try to do something about it before our icky winter, especially since it will likely sit all winter :( while I am at school.

I live in PA and we use a lot of salt, so I need something that will hold up to a lot of it.

-Chassis saver, POR15, something else?
-Do I need to spray or brush? Will both work?
-How much prep? Just wire wheeling? Do I need to have it sandblasted?..
-How much do I need to do the entire underside? A gallon should be enough right?

Appreciate the advice.

por15

bodytech of 20 years

name of the game clean surface !!!!!! wire wheel will work great, make sure ALL loose rust and debris removed then clean with some sort of wax and grease removers should be able to get at local napa store. POR15, cant get much better, stuff works great !!!! spray for most efficient best looking application but brush will work.

In the end, they do both the same, in Ontario Canada you can't get por15 anymore due to voc compliance. But chassie saver is voc. So that makes my decision alot easyer. Wich ever way you choose to go wear gloves, this stuff is impossible to get off your hands afterwards. Its got to wear off...

Ok so they are all pretty similar. Pick one, mask off, remove the scaling, shoot.

Edit: I found my answer to that..Sounds like it will just kind of give the rust a roof to stay under.....So I guess I will be going with some sort of Chassis Saver.

Any word on off-brand chassis savers? Someone said they used a summit racing brand and liked it - worth the extra $$ for the name brands in this area or not?
