got tired of fighting with the engine in my 92 so i took the one i had in my 91 and had it put in the truck. that engine ran smooth as silk in my 91 and it was turned up about 3/4. when the engine was put in i had them put in some 5x14 injectors that i bought from a guy on the forum, he was taking them out to run larger ones and said they had about 5000 miles on them, didnt have any problems with them, and he put the turbo off the engine that he took out onto the engine i had him put in so the only thing thats different is the turbo, injectors, and intercooler. i stopped tonite to pick it up and it doesnt sound smooth at all and its not running anywhere near what it did in my other truck....almost like theres a miss or something. im getting some black smoke but my stock injectors would make more smoke than it is right now. is it something going on with the turbo maybe? i dont have my boost gauge in yet so i dont know whats going on with my boost right now...i just dont see why it would run any different just because its in a dif truck other than the fact that i used the same turbo, i need some help, im tired of not having anything to drive
just wanted to add that i can hear the turbo when im driving and it sounds like its spooling but i dunno what else i can tell you guys to help figure this out

bump someone help him out. Im not even going to guess ... did you get the injectors checked though did it just start doing this or has it been running like ever since you put it in this truck while have done the mods ?

I turned the pump up while it was in the other truck and it was fine, ran great..... I didnt get the injectors tested or anything, and it's been running like this ever since he swapped the engine

So wait.

Truck A's engine didn't work right.
Truck B's engine was solid.

You took Truck B's engine and installed it in Truck A.

Now the engine doesn't work right?

Something is off in Truck A, then. Fuel supply, electrical, something. If you made no changes to a well running engine, and now it doesn't run...look to everything you didn't change.

I'm just throwing this out , you never know what someone will say to get you thinking,

A guy i sold a bed to came over and we swaped them, he had some major engine work, lots of head work, pump work, injectors, turbo, you name it it was done, he also had a fluid dampener, his truck ran sooooooo much smother than mine it was like it had a gas engine, if the fluid dampener really makes that much difference it mite be worth the 6-700.00 bucks.

in closing just think about flywheel/flexplate, harmonic balencer, anything you didn't swap from truck to truck. :confused013:

i know i will buy one when the funds are there.

I understand there will be some difference with swapping the injectors, my biggest concern was that it didn't idle or run smoothly, I'm getting the injectors tested, doing a compression test just to double check and I think I need to figure out what my fuel pressure is. I had the pump turned up, does that need to be changed any since I swapped in the 5x14's? It's turned up about 3/4... Just the fuel screw, I didn't mess with the star wheel or anything else so far... What would I need to check to rule out anything electrical, just the wires on the IP or is there more I need to check?

do you have a aftermarket lift pump ? if you dont get one with those injectors ect. Also get a fuel psi gauge and see what your at and all. I would say to you need to tune it but i think there's more of a problem then that, but tune it like adjust the star wheel and give it a timing bump if you havnt already. But i would check the things that you didnt replace on the truck, it doesn't make sense the engine ran fine then swapped trucks now its no good its got to be something with the other truck

double checked the fittings to see if they were tight and all is good there, no i dont have an after market pump, im waiting to hear if anythings wrong with my #4 injector and then go from there i guess....any possibility it could be something with my wiring at all and where would be the spots to check?

had the #4 injector tested and they said it was popping at 17-18lbs, i just had the stock injectors put back in and it straightened it out so the problem was def. with the injectors. thanks for all the sugestions
