I want a large single hoping to make 650-700 in the end...

A 72mm will be a good set up. Maybe a little smaller but it will keep things cool.

#3 ·
Alot of the turbo guys reccomend a 466/83/90 for the 6.7. I've heard numerous times that this size charger will do everything most guys will ever want.

What's the difference between this and a Silver Bullet 66?

#7 ·
Why would you not go any smaller than 1.0 black mega? Not disagreeing just looking to learn more as well.

I have been looking into a 66/76/14 from II, I rarely tow but would like it not to be to laggy, but also not to small I have a third a third gen manifold will this work or do I need a second gen I see alot of guys buy a second gen who hang a large single I plan on getting a cam at some point also

2nd or 3rd gen works. If you go second gen, you'll need a different downpipe and some air intake tube modifications. 650-700 is fairly easy to hit with some fuel. I'd say 71-75mm T4.

I lean more towards a .90 housing for daily driving. Especially if you live at a higher elevation.

An 83 mm is already being driven as hard as it can be with his size nozzle. The larger housing will help slow the turbine from over speeding it trashing a bearing and will allow for some bigger top end power. I personally have a batmo 466/83/1.0 and I can easily break my drw loose in 1-3. Zero smoke at wot with 150's and sw9. Ryans had good luck with his 83/.90 due to his fueling. More heat equals greater thermal expansion.

Yeah I forget that Ryan is runnin 90s/45lpm. I've got flux 3s waiting to go in and am still deciding on a 466-72 sized charger or a Garrett.

If i was to change my turbo what do you think i should go with? i have everything in my sig

#12 ·
Thanks for all your input my dilemma is I can get an II 66 for cheap but im afraid it is to small would it be a good top? I was not planning on buying one this month but the Vgt got tired of 40lbs of boost :) now I have to convince the wife I need a new manifold as well

#13 ·
I just swapped my 1.1 to a .9. If things get too bad I'll get a BOV, and I have a blocked off 44mm wastegate flange.

#17 ·
I ended up calling forced inductions and got a 466/83/90ar and a T4 steed speed manifold they told me I will not need a blow off valve what's your guys thoughts... I took there advice because it will be hard to overspool

Call Jose at FI, you'd be amazed at the price for a whole setup! Less than a silver bullet alone.

#20 ·
What about all the other modding to do with it?

#40 ·
Depends what your goals are. You can put a bigger turbo on and it will perform different than one with the fueling matched up to it.

Your goal also plays a role in it. 550-600 hp is easy. Beyond that, you gotta pay to play.

You can run a 466-68 on stock fueling. And you can get the 2nd gen mani, 466 turbo, WG, plugs and everything you'll need for the swap for right around 2k or a lil over depending on what all brands you use. It's totally worth it when you consider a 300 based turbo will be the more money and you'll outgrow it cuz every one of us is gonna want more power eventually!

#22 ·
Is the silver 66 a 300 or a 400 based turbo? I've got a lot to learn about turbo still.

I gotta tell you I'm found of the stage 1 package at alligator because of the silver 66 and bd 3rd gen manifold... it's plug and play pretty much.

I would run what blackmega is running for a single. Batmowheel 66/83/1.0 from.bullseye. I may be pulling my twins off to use on the race truck and pick up one of those hum dingers for my truck.

Or

Talk to bullseye about doing me a cool single for the race truck. Not sure really.

I don't want a track queen.. I want a daily driver with some fun at the track. I would like to run a low to mid 13 second 1/4. I want it functional with little(i mean little to) to no lag. I want to run it on stock fuel with the option to run more.

I don't think I'm asking to much am I?

#42 ·
Well a big turbine would make it a track queen. I've been a believer in the 466/83/1.0 since the first I had. I did the big single (478/87/.9) thing and its all good, just not for me. After putting the turbo Matt referenced I'm dead set and won't make anymore turbo swaps. Spool starts at 1300rpm in first, and 1600 rpm in sixth. If that's laggy then you need a gasser.

Great price great people to deal with... The good thing is the 400 based turbo has all different kinds of wheels and housings for cheap if you don't like it

Alright... can someone answer this for me?

Stock 6.7 turbo is compared to what s300 or s400?
SB66 is compared to what s300 or s400?

Just trying to wrap my head around all this.

#27 ·
The SB is a small frame turbo, meaning it's smaller than a 400 based turbo. The 400 is physically larger and therefore the bearings, wheels, everything is larger and sturdier.

The stocker is small frame also.

#28 ·
Well that's part of what I asked. It's starting to clue me in.

#29 ·
I'm not sure if the SB is 300 based but it is smaller than a 400 based turbo. I'm not sure what size on the stocker either. The 300 an 400 series turbos are a designation that Borg Warner gives their turbo for size an alot of us an other people say 300 or 400 based as a general size reference.

#30 ·
I understand that a bit. Just trying to see the relationship in turbo sizes between them to get a general reference if I went one way or the other upgrading my turbo.

#31 ·
There are many 800 horse trucks out there using a 466. I think you be just fine. Nice thin is that it will run well on stock fuel and run even better with some 90s and I bigger pump. Tuning is our big challenge with the 2010+ trucks. EFI live will be the key that unlocks many doors.

#32 ·
I'm sure... sticks is the last thing I want to upgrade... maybe a 33% over cp3.

I keep hearing good things about the sb66 w/3rd gen manifold or even a steed speed on stock fuel. The 3 people that I know who did it say it it's a hair more lag if at all noticeable and spools up 3 times faster.

Is that the same for a S466?

#33 ·
From what I understand is my new turbo and manifold will bolt up in place of the stocker just have to block or plug the coolant lines from the Vgt stocker and of course get rid of the electronics keep it simple
