Alright, first off I searched threads and couldn't find exact problem so I am posting here. Recently sold my 05 Dodge 3500 340hp. It had full 5" Magnaflow exhaust with K&N Intake. Now I've got an early '04 305hp 3500 manual trans. It is factory except for Pro Flo 5" exhaust and about to install S&B Intake and Intake Elbow. So here's my problem:

I had noticed it earlier but seems to be getting worse. After start up which sometimes seems like the truck spins over more than my '05 before it'll crank. While at an idle it seems to have a random skip in RPM's. It will be idling smooth as silk and with no A/C or anything running it will sputter then ramp back up to smooth idle. It seems to do this continually. But when I start driving, at different gears and RPM ranges it has a dead spot just after shifting gears. It is at the point that when pulling a skid steer that at times seems like its going to die between shifts. When running the empty truck, it just seems to be a dead spot between shifts. It is not a constant problem, just speratic.

I was thinking a stuck or bad injector, but it does not smoke at all at an idle and only shows any smoke when under full boost and even then seems to be normal diesel smoke. By no means is it rolling smoke.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

How many miles on the injectors? The stockers seem to have a life span of 100K miles before they start to leak internally, causing long starts. Do you have gauges on the truck? Does it have the lift pump on the filter canister or in the tank? When is the last time you changed the fuel filter and what did it look like? Check engine light on?

Truck has 148k on it, all injectors replaced with last two being replaced around 5k miles ago. No check engine light on. I did notice a haze coming form the truck in bright sunlight while running down the road at 60mph. Someone said it was a possible TPS adjustment. Would you adjust it the same as an auto trans?
