I here about this map sensor and when you disconnect it you get more smoke and mybe more power. Wher is this and do you have pics?

Hey monster truck I have not found any pics but ya the IAT sensor removes with a socket if I remember right. And I'm not shure if you will get more smoke without a fueling box, but it is worth a try. I have unpluged mine and WOW is there alot of smoke it is really sweet. PM me if it makes any differance.

The map sensor (turbo boost sensor) takes a 1 1/4 deep socket or you can use a 1 1/4 crows foot to pull it out!

After rereading the posts you are just wanting to unplup it. Didn't realize that when I first posted.

WITHOUT a fueling box, your truck will act as if there isnt a turbo!!! itll be very very sluggish...ROY have u pulled it from the motor yet (keep all the wiring together, just un plug from motor) YOU will get more fuel, but more power is unknown...mine is slower with it unplugged, compared to hooked up and with ADD

Yes it will be very slow like there is now fuel getting to the motor. I forgot about that when jake and I installed My banks big hoss we tryed it and it was so gut-less

No I haven't tried it yet. I will. I have to wait til I get my injectors from woodsrat, started pulling everything apart today so I'm ready for them when they show up!

This is the first I have heard of this! Now making sure I'm getting this right here, unplug the MAP and your supposed to get more power? Wouldn't this give off a code? Doesnt the motor need to register manifold boost to turn up the fueling? And why does a box affect the results?

#11 ·
No you actually get less throtle reponse off the start. Becuse the motor is overloading itself with fuel. Because of low boost press. But once the boost catches up you will take off. And no it will not throw a code becuse my comp will complete the circuit even if unpluged. But if there is no fueling box it will be like there is a weed wacker engine under your hood. It will so slow and unresponsive.

IF you have an edge fueling box, you can try it. IF you dont, its not even an option. but yes, you unplug it from the motor, and the edge wiring completes the circuit, i dont know why...and you dont throw a code, because I dont know why???? and yes with stock injectors youll roll the coal, my truck doesnt hardly throw any in neutral when revved, but map sensor out it throws a HUGE cloud...AND it wont be SUPER doggy, or slow, u MIGHT notice it, u might not. Roy, if ur gonna run new big injectors, itll be sooo smokey already, so ha i wouldnt bother with this

OK curiosity got the best of me. I put my air horn and vavle cover on and tried it, mine went into limp mode. Thats no fun:clapmean: ! It threw my check engine light, so I pulled over and plugged it back in.

#17 ·
Ok do you have your pump wire taped? That might do something. That really is a head scratcher mine goes fine and I get the awsome cloud of death.

comp box plugged in??? (completing the circuit) u keep the comp wiring 'y' to the map sensor, then unplug them from the motor, NOTHING else. u had to do something wrong for ur check engine light to come on!! gimme a call... 218.393.9648

Well ya that is right becuse remember jake the fist time we unpluged mine with the big hoss it threw the same code you have with your throtle pos. My truck did the same thing there 0 power.

My comp is plugged into my ADD and I left it all plugged together and just unplugged the ADD from the sensor!?!? I left my box on 5X5.

DUSTY ur truck did that because the big hoss will not work with the map sensor out. we all know that the comp box will, u and i both do it. ROY leave the ADD in the motor, disconnect it from that. thats the way i run mine, when i pull mine out. do that, then just go start ur truck, and rev it, ul definitley notice the smoke!!!

#22 ·
OK I tried that and yea theres smoke, but a cloud of white after the black. I think I'll just keep my plugged in.

#23 ·
roy how cold is your truck?!?! if its up to operating temperature, than white smoke is bad, and you just alerted yourself of the problem. but in no way would this hurt your truck, or anything like that. but if ur truck is cold, thats why it smokes white, just like cold mornings...but that ADD was causing the problem...anyways, leave her in or take her out...

Yea it wasn't up to operating temp. I didn't even think about that. Thats whats so good about this site, a person could spend hours of time trying to figure something out and all the answers are right here from people thats had those problems or tried something new. I bought my truck bone stock about 8 months ago and it would be stock to this day if I wouldn't have stumbled on to this site. Of course my wife probably hates all of you! But she'll have a chance to meet everybody at the IRP!:jump:

You should for shure try it I have had my plug out for like a month it will not do anything. But get your motor up to temp, come to a complete stop and but her to the wood and hope nobody is walking on the sidewalk it is GREAT.
