It's so you can run lower tire pressure with-out the low tire light coming on.

This isn't right. You need to check your door for the light load psi ratings. set your front and rear tires accordingly then press the light load button.

If you try to press the button with your tires aired to 80 psi it will blink four or five times then go out. FYI, 80 is not the recommended rating either. It's 70 for the rear and 60 for the front.

Look at your drivers side door jam. It has the tire pressure rating for light load and regular load settings. Try to go just a few pounds over the set psi just to keep the light from popping on when it gets cold.

The button is to be activated before you start the engine when the key is turn on but before you engage the starter. Then the system is to be reset to the new lower pressure, but.
My light and warning come on every winter when I air down for the winter driving. I run the recommend air pressure for the light load but the TPMS does not recognize this. Air pressure is checked every month with an air gage. In the warmer months when I pull a camper then I am at 70 PSI rear and 60 front.
I could go to the dealer to have the TPMS reset but I am willing to live with this since I have a Smarty S67 installed.

i say its the biggest POS on the truck. had my tires maxed out and bumped the button by accident. then i had to air down the tires to reset it again. idk maybe its just me but i thinks its a POS

I agree I am ocd and check my tires everyweek anyway. I don't need the computer to do it for me.

The sticker is going to be based on whatever tire was provided OEM Mine had the 256/70E Michelin tires. My TPMS was 60/70 & 60/45. :confused013:

If I have Light load set for the lower pressure tires and inadvertantly hit the button, setting it back to normal, the TPMS light WILL light due to the pressures being very low.
If I attempt to turn ON LL with the higher tire pressures, it will flash a few times and turn off. PITA. I have to set my tire pressures when cold in the morning and turn on the LL right away before it can run the self-test. :banghead:

You are all wrong. You should always carry the higher pressure in your front tires, because of the weight of the engine. The light load button is so you can run up to 15 lbs lower in the rear tires when you are not under any load.

Are you sure that you read this. I really hope you are joking.
Look at the door placard from my truck.

OP, regardless of what everyone says just follow the sticker on your truck. Those are the numbers your TPMS was set by. If you adjust the tires to the PSI for the light load settings on your door you can enable the light load button. It may do it automatically, I can't really remember.

how do you figure this it clearly states 65 front 80 rear light load button off......... 65 front 45 back. light load on how do you figure you are right and we are wrong

this is for higher psi in the rear tires for a heavier load

I'm lost, where is the confusion?
DodgeVtX, I am not sure you are going to get it. The placard denotes the psi the tires should be set at for regular loads and light loads. If you set the psi to what it says for light load, then the light load button can be enabled. Why else would the even put a light load setting on the door placard if it didn't correspond to the light load button.
Forget what you have done experimenting with the air pressure. Just set it to what your door says and see if your light load button doesn't either come on or stays on when you push it.
