Is there a way to know if my transmission is tuned? Bought truck used and it has been deleted and tuned with smarty jr. I don't know enough about these trucks to figure it out. Is there a simple label attached somewhere or a way to tell by driving or anything? If not I think I would like to get it tuned. The truck is an 08 2500 2wd

Smarty jr. doesn’t tune the trans. My guess would be someone saving money on a lower end tuner like the hr. didn’t do any trans tuning.

Basically they would have had to buy two tuners, and the tuner than does the trans, would also do deletes and engine tune so why bother with the jr?

Don’t get me wrong, nothing wrong with the jr. it gets the delete done just fine, I run one, I like how the trucks runs just fine.

There were less options back then for tuning. The Smarty was a hot item like H&S back then and no EFI yet.
Separate TCM on the 3rd gen 68,s. People would remove and send them in to get tuned earlier on when there was no other options.
4th gens have the TCM build into the ECM.

Now I dont know for sure, but those TCM tunes ideally turn up the line pressure, if you could gear a pressure gauge on the trans line you might be able to tell that way. Not sure if the line pressure is readable by any scanner type tools.

Just thinking how I would go about investigating. But I’m not even sure the “line pressure” makes it to the cooler hoses.

or drive dowtown and see if your truck would bogged when trying to accelerate from 35 mph speed. I believe a tuned TCM have a set shifting points of 1st (10 mph) 2nd (20 mph) 3rd (30 mph) and so on... Mine is tuned and when in town driving my gear stays on 3rd on 35 mph speed.. Now on my 07.5 fully stock... it shifts all the way to 5th or sometimes 6th on 35 mph... Just something to check... goodluck

That's exactly what mine was doing before tuning and i have to remind my self to always keep it on 4th...So when my 68rfe decided to go at 265k and got a brand new one from the dealership (my young bro works there) got the tune and been really happy with it... The tuning really shines on traffic and changing lanes is a breeze, i dont have to keep an eye on what gear im on...
