Thats the wix on the left , I stopped useing the amsoil filter a few years ago ,I now use the spectrum from orillys auto , it just fits in the end of the turbo tube & lays on the interfender , clean it ever few months had the same filter for a few years now even on my road trips to Alb two or three times a year ,I make sure it's clean before I go & just check it when I get home :thumbsup:

 

I've got 42k mi on mine. I can suck the filter minder down about 40% on WOT, but could get it to register about 20% if not more when it was a brand new filter.

My truck pretty much sticks to the road and doesn't see much dirt.

 

I would not use anything but the Napa Gold/Wix 49946 filter in the stock airbox. Hastings also sells an equivalent part# AF1492.

 

I replace mine minimum of once a year whether it needs it or not.

And I'd never put too much faith in those filter minders for telling you when to change your filter. I've had some pretty bad filters come out of trucks and equipment that were packed full of sand (including one that smoked a turbo it was so plugged up) and the filter minder gave no indication the filters were bad. Don't think I've ever personally seen on work properly.

 

There is ZERO reason to use anything but the NAPA, Wix or Mopar equivalent deep filter.

Thanks for the specs. Which filter are those specs for? Or is the Wix/Napa/Mopar the same filter?

 

Ever since the filter was installed, and according to my UOA report, the silicon number keeps getting lower. It sounds like some of you would recommend changing the filter regardless of what the Filter Minder is indicating? STONR, you have 42K on your Wix filter. I've got 34K on mine. My truck is pretty similar to yours in that I drive on the highway 99% of the time. I suppose the filters are cheap, so why am I debating this.
