I am installing a set of vulcan performance boots. Got the driver side in with no trouble at all, but the passenger side is giving me a heck of a time. :banghead:

Any tips/tricks or special way or order to put these on? I've tried multiple ways (pipe with upper boot then lower, lower boot with pipe then upper, etc..) with no luck.

Any pictures of the passenger side would help as well, as I'm not even sure how the pipe was oriented originally....

Thanks!

is it an issue of not being able to get the boots on over the holding lip? Or nothing is lining up right? I used a little soapy water to help slide mine together. Just a little soap to make is slip well but also evaporate in just a few minutes.

Fill out your signature so we know what truck your working on.
Year and mods.

I can get it lined up close with lower boot on intercooler, but upper half of boot wouldn't fold over enough to go on the pipe. (Pipe and upper boots clamped on turbo)

I found some old pics I took before I changed my turbo. Pics were taken w/stock intercooler boots. I took the pics for reference in case I had issues. I went with silicone boots as well. The passenger side tested my patience too!! The aftermarket boot to the intercooler is not nearly as flexible as the oem (oem was flimsy) - this is part of the reason for the difficulty. You'll get it after some more trial & error.
I wish I would have taken some after pics (w/silicone boots) as well before I put everything back together.

Hope the photos help (Click on the top bar of the photos to enlarge)

I finally got it! The dish soap and an extra pair of hands did the trick!

What I ended up doing was: assemble both boots on pipe, with clamp on lower boot loose. Loosen 45* elbow on turbo. Slide assembly onto intercooler. Fold upper boot onto turbo. (I had to push the bottom boot far onto the intercooler to give more room). Then rotate turbo elbow and bottom boot to optimal location. All done!

Thanks to everyone for the help!
