Ok I have a 1998.5 dodge 2500 4x4 5 spd ok I bought this truck awhile back and it supposedly has an axle off a older truck the sway bat that is on it is wrong and I can't seem to find one that will work with this axle

sooooo one question... do you know how a sway bar is supposed to be installed??

you first need link pins AKA sway bar end links.. which have bushings.

the bar looks like it's on upside down.. I would flip it a full 180degrees, and install the link pins/sway bar

I would find a new mechanic if someone else is doing your work.. something else will likely be damaged/broken/crooked.

Yea I know how a sway bar is suppsed to be installed it came with links but they are wrong they match my 04s end links the truck is just how we got it we finaly got it running now we are just about to start rebuilding the front end we just can't figure out what year the axle came out of we do our own work just want to make sure what we got before we start buying a bunch of parts

You are right the sway bar does not match the differential brackets. Pics are on google. Find the other sway bar, links and bushings and try that.

Do you really need it ???

Every DODGE i have ever owned/own....has the front bar removed. The front springs are so stiff, probably wont need one until i do my Thuren springs up front.

you really want a front sway bar, yes.

I tend to agree for highway vehicle I would opt for the sway bar too. I would see if you can get the part from the same year truck as the axle in hopes to resolve this.

Yes, get the bar from the year of truck. Get matching bushings and links. Bushings may be different size where the fit the bar, but I bet the hold down brackets are the same. The bars come in different diameters sometimes.
