well I have managed to grow a set and just deal with cutting into my roof. just wondering what's easier dropping the roof liner or using the template that is assuming the factory kit comes with a template up top and also is it plug n play or no

you have to drop the liner no matter what.....its really not that hard to do.....depend on what you consider plug an play....if yo buy the recon ones you need to make up you own wiring harness but its simple.
well I was going to by the factory kit and get the lenses sprayed with clear black and put in led bulbs but I was wondering if the factory kit has a harness that plugs in somewere or do I need to cut n splice also is it true u can see where to drill from underneath thanks for your help
you can buy the recon one in smoked color for 80 bucks i think......i would not do it from under neath......easiest way is to use a friends truck that already has the lights on an just measure...me an a friend have done that twice an works great
The factory setup comes with the template and all the wiring you need. The only thing you have to do is use a posi-tap to the power wire (lights on) on the passenger side pillar.
I used a wire end and just plugged into the right prong (only two of them... one hot one not!) when I installed lights on my 06
I didnt have to drop the headliner in my std cab just pulled the pillars and overhead display and it hung down 6"... just enough to get my hands in there for the wiring.
Make sure to vaccume the headliner before you put it back up as it will collect the majority of the metal shavings from drilling
I have a half a can of nite shades left, did my tail lights and 3rd brake light gonna use it for the clearance lights Im getting the factory ones for 78 bucks new, so ill take those paint em and start drillin monday. Wish me luck!
