Dim Headlights

In my 2002 cummins, I reconditioned my headlight lenses (cleaned inside and out, polished outside). I then installed Sylvania Silverstar bulbs . The right headlight is dim as it was before I did all of the above. Why?

Dude, my truck has that same problem. The right side low beam is dim while the left side is bright like it should be. I have an additional problem of the high beam for that side staying on after I switch back to low beam. I have to turn off the headlights and turn them back on to get that high beam to shut off. I replaced the switch in the dash on a whim, but after looking at a wiring diagram I realized that couldn't be the problem. Now it's down to chasing a short in the wiring, a job which I'm not looking forward to. I have a Sport with the quad headlights, btw.

Best of luck fixing it. I'll post back if I figure out the problem with my truck.

the dim light could be solved by using a relay harness, the switches tend to cause a major draw of power from the lights, typically bad grounding, since its ground switched its a bit of a snaffu.

relay harness just uses the stock wiring as a trigger to a relay which feeds power directly from the battery to the headlight, that reduces the load on the switch and gives the lights more power. newer harnesses can be found that do not use relays. should be able to find those for about $30+sh

I had the same problem as OP, used the relay harness and it worked like a champ.
