I'm deleted with Smarty Jr ME. Plugged my EGR back in now smoke upon acceleration only. I thought the Smarty disabled the EGR? Could I just be blowing out a buildup of crap from having it unplugged got 5000 miles. I been deleted the while 5000 miles with EGR unplugged only, not the TV or cooler FYI.

Plugged it back in as it seems to have better performance that way. Black smoke from exhaust upon acceleration, usually a 3-4 second burst.

Only unplugged at EGR, not at TV.

Checked my programmer, running SW3 default timing. Will changing the timing setting reduce smoke?

If your running the smarty you need to unplug your egr and your throttle valve. It's not even up for discussion just unplug it. Plugging it back in is not making it more responsive it's all in your head.

Yes timing will effect smoke output. More timing will mean less smoke and better mileage but too much timing and you will blown your head gasket. Just be careful and do some research on the best settings.

Smarty states the tuner turns off the EGR system. I'm not sure I'm believing that. I do think with default timing the tuner selects timing based on SW level. I'm wondering if I should change that on my own. Any suggestions.
