DEF Pump Not Available?

Hi Forum Folks,.

I have a dilemma, I have a 2013 2500 Cummins with a failed DEF pump heater. It looks from my research I will need to replace the pump or delete. I contacted dealers in my area and the pumps are no longer in stock. A new pump is coming out but will not be available for 5 months. Apparently there were soem issues with the old design and the new pump is held up in FCA engineering. In 160 miles, my truck will go into limp mode and be essentially useless to me. Has anyone else had trouble sourcing a pump? Does anyone know what is going on with the existing pumps? Can I get a heater/rebuild kit for the existing pump?

D

I've contacted every available dealer, parts store, etc. etc. Tried the link above and they show it on their website. Called and it is out of stock. Nothing available until April. What the hell is going on with this part?? This is crazy.

Same thing that is going on with every part of everything you can think of. Covid driven manufacturing, shipping, and sub-part and material delays. Lot's of plants and businesses have been shut down or are operating at limited capacity or they cannot get the materials to make the parts they need to. It's a great big snowball of problems

I'd bet a paycheck that if you were to trade that in at a Ram dealer, that dealer would be able to source that part in a week. You see when it becomes their truck to be sold on the used car side, it will be Job 1 to get it fixed.

Checked a couple Mopar parts houses and they appeared to be in stock, but if they’re not, I also have one. From 2016. According to the parts places it’s the same as yours.
it was used for a thousand miles or so. I could be persuaded to get rid of it.

Who gave you the information it was held up in engineering? If it was a dealer/parts guy I would take that with a grain of salt, a very small grain of salt.
I bet you the reason they won't sell you one on the shelf is because they are holding it for warranty repairs only. They did the same thing with the new drag links. Limited supply so they would not sell direct to consumers even though they had them on the shelves, only used the parts for warranty repairs.

Called 5 different Dealers and some on the other side of the country from me. All the same answer.

Thanks folks all for the response's. I had a 2001 Excursion chipped and modified. I would love to do it to this one as well. I have been researching tuners and pieces parts and have seen a number of articles related to EPA crackdowns. The EPA has begun fining companies making the tuners with hefty fines to the point they have put some of them out of business. It is very difficult to find anything on line now that provides delete tuners. I found some but they are in the Cayman Islands but probably not going to send funds their way. Based on what I read, I'm a bit concerned about a federal crackdown on those that have deleted. Trust me, I love the performance of a modified truck. Just not sure I'm willing to take the chance on deleting a street vehicle anymore.

I don't know if it is actually in stock but here are links for the new pump and required o-ring, or at least the part numbers that were shown as the replacement when I looked for the original pump. I will let you determine if they are correct or not, it is an expensive mistake if not.

Edit: another link from the first site. I didn't realize I had two different sites going.

Thanks Badunit. That is the correct part number but it comes up as a fuel pump and not a DEF pump. Hmmmm. The o-ring is correct

Did you ever get a pump from the dealer? My pump just went out but it's still covered under warranty. But the service advisor just notified me that they can not get any pumps in due to the FCA engineering so my truck is a sitting duck. There is no ETA on them. They asked me to contact Chrysler and open a claim with them to try and expedite the part.
