So will tell you a true story.

I have been looking around for a 2nd gen dodge cummins for a while. I stumpled on nydiesels.com usedcumminstrucks.com
also known as fast lane auto out of cortland, NY.

I started looking emailed them and started dealing with John Barden "the diesel" guy

he was nice emailed me back on xmas telling me everything I wanted to hear.
well nervous I decided to go forward. I paid a lot for the truck to get a truck that is 100%.
well i wired the money to john and took a week to receive the truck and over a week to receive the title because he mailed to the wong address. always a story and very poor communication.

regardless receive the truck and the
rear axle is leaking.
One speaker is working
lets just say less then described

he says he will pick it up and fix it or pay me half of the cost that is his warranty policy for the axle. i say forget shipping i will have fixed locally and he agrees to pay half. well over week and a half and no check.

then the oil pan is leaking so need to get that fixed. also most of all the front suspension parts tie rods etc are shot. 100%? LOL

got an estimate from a reputable shop near me last saturday and looking at nearly $3500 in repairs. so let jon know and he agrees to pick it up in a few days.
Today with the snow fall shift to 4wd and nothing.

No emails no texts no calls and this is the last straw when the 4wd doesn't work. I called from my cell and right to voicemail. So call from the home number and get a hello? He didn't recognize the home number. I quickly explain my disatisfaction and he quickly says he is busy.

do yourself a favor and don't buy from him! he talks a good talk but no follow thru and All i can say is his description of my truck was very inaccurate.

I will make the truck perfect on my own dime even though it was suppossed to be that way from the start with a 30 day warranty to cover everything.

You Jon Barden or how ever you spell it are a disgrace and karma will get you.
You lack of follow through is terrible. Stay away in my opinion and you will be happier!!

Sorry to hear man. Lots of scumbags out there claiming they're the "diesel guys"....

As a side note, Corey Motors in NH pulled the same BS on me. Truck was definitely not what it was supposed to be. Live and learn. Been fixing stuff ever since.

Good luck!!

crazy thing was saw one complaint about fast lane nydiesels.com. figured always have one pissed off guy, but couldn't find a lot of complaints other then one guys.

I will not roll over. just filed complaint on BBB hopefully no one else will get taken. I will get the truck fixed and love it. guess over paid. guess he needs the money more then I do KARMA is a

Your right Karma will get him, but it sucks having to wait for it to happen.:agree2:

Exactly let karma take place. He may be the "biggest cummins" dealer because he buys junk trucks and does patch work to get them eye worthy. Every truck has its flaws but at least help the buyer. The person I bought my truck off of is going to build the tranny for me when mine blows, however ill but the parts. Just goes to show you that some sellers actually care about the buyers/ new owners of their trucks

Does your cruise control function correctly, and does the HVAC blow out of the vents?

probably a vacuum leak in the tubes going to the CAD, or a ruptured CAD diaphragm.

I looked at the rigs this guy had quite intently, glad I didnt waste my time.

Sorry about your troubles 20016speed,

Here's a downloadable 2001 service manual.
The download is kinda slow but worth the wait.

Thanks for posting your experience with this douche, as crappy as it was. I'm subscribed to his youtube videos, and I actually like watching them for the trucks, but all I hear is bad news about this guy. He won't be in business for too long! Good luck with your rig man! Oh yea..., post some pics, lol :D

sorry to hear of your bad experience and thanks for the heads up, will know to avoid this guy for sure. Your 4wd issue probably not major problem tho. One thing to check is your u joints particularly on the short drive shaft where it meets the front diff. That needs to be solid or you will have difficulty engaging 4wd. The light is working so your cad diaphragm motor is moving to engage the switch. You should take close look at the cad (on front axle tube passenger side right beside the wheel). Pull the cover off and you will see the shift fork. It needs to move right or left to engage or disengage 4wd. Sometimes the plastic tips of the fork are knocked off and or the fork tips are damaged and that can cause the fork to not engage the splines properly. Easy fix usually replace the fork. One hour job.

Wow i dont see how that clown sells them trucks. Their budget trucks are two times book value. How can anyone get a loan for those asking prices? I tried on a clean 02 ext cab the guy wanted 12500 and the bank said no because the book value was like 6-8k

only good thing it is a 1 owner no rust truck and very clean interior.
will be a great truck just not yet. will work on paint next lots of fish eyes ugh.

just upset that I paid 20k including shipping with a complete misleading salesman. guess i just trust people. good karma for me and bad for him yet he made the profit, but I will cause him major losses with customers by warning them and telling them the truth.

I ain't here to give ya a hard time, but you can find much nicer trucks for much less. I really do wish you good luck and stay away from car salesman.....they are almost all bad. Lookin through dealers is a mistake with these trucks, get your cash in hand and hunt around for a month or two in the classifieds or for sale by owner ads. Better to buy a truck off a man who has taken care of his rig and knows fair price than to support a snake whos makin money off of someones pos trade in. After taxes, shipping, etc you werent over 22k?

you have 3 days by federal law under no lemon police to return this truck for 100% refund. there is not a damn thing he can do to combat that and if you go to court you will win. if you want to get rid of it then thats a good route, if you want to repair it then take him to small claims for the repairs and id expect you will win.

i dont know what you paid for this truck but i bought my cummins with 270K miles for 5K. i accepted many repairs including full trans rebuild, axle rebuilds, full suspension and front end rebuilds, full interior rebuilds and wiring. i consider this a good deal as i knew from the start i would do it all myself and build my own truck. under that situation perhaps its fine to just roll with it and own the responsibility to the repairs. however this is not what you were promised and thus were sold a set of goods that does not live up. you MUST follow through and go after him, pay a lawyer to write you a letter to send him... just that may be enough to scare him into action. the letters are not expensive. at least take that first step.
