Hey everybody! Some of you may remember me from a few years ago. I figured I'd start a new thread for the new truck :D

Where to even start... Well if you're interested in the build of my old '90 Non IC truck, check it out HERE. I promise you will be entertained! I'll give you the abridged version here :hehe:

I started out with a very beat and neglected 1990 single cab. Over the course of about a year and a half I dumped countless thousands of dollars, and what seemed like endless hours restoring/building it up.

Mods List (I'll add to this periodically as I remember parts that went on)

-5" superlift, 37x13.5r17 Toyo MT's
-Amsoil ByPass filtration system
-4" turbo back exhaust
-Kelderman air ride
-Autometer gauges
-By FAR the most asked question I got about that truck- "Where did you get those mirrors?" ... West Coast Mirrors
-NorthWest Fab crossover steering
-Redhead steering box
-Borgeson steering shaft
-Completely rebuilt front end- All new bearings, seals, kingpins, etc.
-Brand new steering column (old one would move up and down like 4" involuntarily :hehe:

Now onto the engine mods... I completely rebuilt the engine top to bottom, and painted every single nut and bolt on that thing. Unfortunately over the few years it's been sitting, Mother Nature has taken a toll on her pertiness.

-Brand new head, valves, 60 lb valve springs, O-rings machined into it
-Complete rebuild kit with ceramic coated Mahle pistons
-Stage II DDP 100 HP injectors
-ARP head studs
-New push rods, 24v tappets
-Goerend torque converter
-I HAD a Borg Warner S300 Phatshaft that I was about two days away from plumbing up to the new intercooler... But that never happened. Eventually was forced to sell it
-Performance 2nd gen intercooler (frikkin HUGE)
-Misc. new parts- 24v oil pump, new water pump, thermostat, freeze plugs (plus a bolt on rear freeze plug)
-ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold

I'm sure I'm missing some parts, but enough of that. Onto the photos!

Here is what she looked like in her prime

Old vs. rebuilt hubs

And about 1 month after I got it running, and 2 days after I put a brand new front end on there, this happened...

Thanks man, we are very lucky! It was the day before Thanksgiving, which was a bit ironic. Believe it or not I was only doing about 25 mph. I lost control of a drift on a dirt road, slid backwards and sideways into a low embankment. This stopped the tires on a dime and sent the truck flying. It rolled 2 and a quarter times, landed on the passenger side. Pretty sure the frame is still straight, as I've since driven the truck (with no doors and roller tires) up to about 70 mph. Doesn't pull either way, and still runs like a champ!

Ok, so why am I telling you all of this? Well She has been sitting in our storage yard for almost 3 years now. I kept telling myself I was going to rebuild it. However, that proved to be pretty tough. To rebuild it takes a lot of time, and time was not something I had a lot of.

I was and still am in the middle of studying to be a Mechanical Engineer. I also recently started my own detailing business, called Impeccable Detail (feel free to check it out on FB! - https://www.facebook.com/impeccable.detail/)

Then about a year ago, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which kind of threw a snag in things. I lost my right nut, had to do 4 rounds of chemotherapy, and we thought I beat it. Then a couple weeks ago, a CT scan revealed a tumor. I just underwent major abdominal surgery to have it removed. The good news is that it's 100% benign, and I am finally cancer free!

Anyways, I told you that story so I could tell you this story. I have an absolutely amazing family and support system. They completely surprised me with this new truck as a gift! A sort of incentive for me to get recover from the surgery and have something to look forward to.

It's a 1993 Extended Cab auto (for now) with almost 300k miles.

Mods include-
-Industrial Injection Hot Rod VE pump
-100 HP POD injectors (Waayyyyyy too smokey)
-Aurora 3000 turbo
-Snow Performance water/meth
-2" lift, 35x12.5 Toyos on 18" Moto Metal wheels

Terrible photos, I know. I'll get some good ones once I'm out of the hospital.

The plan is to swap everything over to the red truck. I might have to repaint everything that I painted blue though :hehe: Eventually it will be repainted (not sure of the color yet), 5 spd swap, p-pumped and compound turboed... But let's take it one step at a time :D

The good thing is, I have a daily driver now! That way I can tear this thing apart when I'm ready and won't have to worry about driving it to work the next day.

Said daily-

Glad to see that you're back! I remember following your build and was sad to see what happened with your truck.

Thanks for the story and nice work beating the cancer. That must've been a lot to go through mentally and physically.

I love the new gift! Very much looking forward to following along. You've got a great platform to work with and it'll be fun to follow the progression.

Thanks for the kind words everybody! Unfortunately no progress, still in the hospital recovering. Long story, but they ended up having to reopen the incision and operate on my small intestine, so recovery has been a bit longer and rougher than we'd hoped. Hopefully I'll be out of here today or tomorrow, and I'll get some good photos of her for you guys!

I always liked that truck-can't believe it's been that long since the accident. Glad you're back!

Thanks guys. I'll get to it, but it will be at least a week.

I'll give you guys a quick update on me though...

I just got home from the hospital after a 23 day stay. After my first surgery it turned out that my small intestine basically folded on itself (something which is very rare to happen to a 22 yr old, usually only happens to children), so they had to open me back up and fix that.

Then a few days later my lung collapsed and filled with fluid, which subsequently caused me to get pneumonia. I didn't eat anything this whole time, so I lost almost 30 pounds. I'm recovering, but it will be a long road. Pretty tough for me to do much of anything at the moment.

Anyways, hopefully be working on the truck in a week or so. I'll keep you guys posted!

Just take it easy don't over do. My wife said so. Our prayers for you to have a speedy recovery.

Slow and steady wins the race! Take it easy and accept help where you can. Start mapping out your build plan, parts lists and time for each task. Then in a FEW weeks start tinkering slowly a bit each day then rest. You have been through a lot and your body needs time to heal even if you think you don't!
I'm just down the road in Winters and visit my wife's grandmother over in timberland (down the road from Homewood) so if you need something or are in the area give me a shout I have a shop full of toys ... I mean tools!

Take care,
Kevin
