Let first start off with i am a master honda tech for 20years, with that said, need a experience dodge tranny guy for help on advance diagnostic on 06 ram 2500 5.9 cummins with 48re, I have an issue with my transmission shuttle shifts into third around 40-55mph, and at time will will code up p0720 transmission output sensor failure, so with the montior graph on my snap on solus for transmission outsmart speed, show the valve would increase for the most part smoothly up until reaches roughly 40-45mph then you start to start jumping up and down as the speed increase, so far what I've done is had the pcm rebuild by ecu computer exchange, replace two after market transmission output shaft sensor, both sensors would run good for few weeks and go back to the same problems, got a mopar one now but have not installed it yet, due to the fact that when I test the original one test stated that the sensor is still good, i also check when I check for the wires before I had the pcm repaired and did find 2.5 volts on both wires to the transmission output speed sensor connector when connected to ecu but shows no short to any wires to the wire going to the pcm, been fighting this issue for pass 6 month and I've exhausted my resources

Maybe need an upgraded gm solenoid for the fluid pressure to help with shuttle shift. Seems to help.

My 2005 3500 5. 9 just got a brand new transmission, 3rd gear/ Reverse ( same gear) was slipping real horrendously. Also had a class II leak for some time, it was bound to go out. I didn’t have the tools to do the job myself had to take took it in to mechanic unfortunately, in total everything came out to $5100.00 went through Jasper to get a remanufactured 3 year 100,000 warranty. If your odometer is jacked up go ahead and get it fixed, voids warranty coverage. Hopefully this is beneficial.

I've just rebuild the tranny with upgrades about a year ago yeah tranny is no slipping its just the trans output shift signalis drop make the pcm think down shift,I know it not the tranny, its electrical issue, like say on my data the trans output shaft signal shows drop in signal as you could see in the graph, but i finally found my issue ill put it on a another reply so this can help some else out with same issue

Here my graph on my output speed

Here the data i was get if you notice the graph all the sudden loses signal but once it clears out it smooth

But I found my issue it was poor connection in the harness between left side transmission about 11 o clock, the connector was getting a poor connection, so my tip for any body dealing with this p0720, my suggestion is to check and clean all connectors first, there 3 connector to check and clean first one is the connector b on the pcm, the one on the driver side were the transmission Mates to the motor, and the actual trans output shaft connector clean does connector first with electrical clear as brake clean and eat plastic, then replacing the trans output speed sensor

I’m trying to remove the trsnny to motor connector you talked about because I’m having speed sensor issues so I want to clean it but I cannot get it apart for the life of me. Any tips on that?

Seems there a red clip you have to slide forward. I usually take a pick and run It up under the clasp and slide it off that way as I can't mash the red clip in after I slid it back
