Do these 4th gens sit higher stock then their older 3rd gen brothers of the same model?

Yes, the 2013's even sit higher than the 2010 4th Gens...

Looks like the engineers just don't want us to buy these trucks for towing fifth wheels!!!!!

I've towed the same 5er (in my sig), with an 05' Chevy 3500 CC/LB dually, with a 2010 Dodge 3500 CC/LB/ dually, with a 2012 Ram 3500 CC/LB dually and now with the 2013 (all 4X4's)..The 13' IS higher, and on top of that, if you got the GN/5er prep package and the picture frame adapter...the adapter sit's taller than regular rails you mount your 5er hitch onto. I'm "more level" now with this truck than I was with the last 3...I lowered my hitch one notch (Reese 20K Signature hitch), and VOILA!! again, my 5er sets more level on this truck than the last three.

I still see a lot of brand new trucks out there towing, so, height is not that big of a deal. we may not like it, we may have to do a little more to level the combo, but....Ford and Chevy trucks aren't dropping in height, heck, the 2014 F350 CC/LB 4X4 King Ranch is taller than my truck, (my buddy owns one and pulled in side by side, his seems to be taller)..yet, I still see brand new tall, 4X4 Chevy's/GM's, Fords and Ram's towing 5er's out there....not a big deal, a little research, some adjustments and one should be good to go.

It hasn't changed, its still way higher than my 2010.

I just went from an 06 3500 QC 4x4 to a 2014 2500 CC 4x4 and it "seemed" higher to me. The first time my dog went to jump into the back seat he stopped, looked and hesitated before getting in.....he knew.

This seems like another example of the engineers not getting out from behind the desk and realize that it is tougher to work out a truck that sits sky high. There is something wrong when a person has to modify the suspension of a trailer (ie make the trailer higher) so they can use it on a new 4 x 4 truck. Raising the center of gravity on a trailer is not a good thing.
Curious - how does the Dodge Ram compare in height to the Ford and GM?

Amen Bro. I doubt that the engineers have tried loading 80# bags of concrete into the bed of the truck! The new GM & Ford trucks look lower, but I haven't measured one. Even the new 2500 4x2 is as high as my old 3500 4x4. :confused013:

Great, taller, longer, more power, more complicated, more luxury, and more $$$. Got to love it.

"Pro's and Con's" to almost anything we buy now a days. Computers, vehicles, homes, phones, laptops, tablets, chainsaws, bicycles, and on and on and on..such is life as we know it in 2014...and I doubt it'll get any better

I don't know a lot about the air suspension on the 2014 trucks but one way they could improve it for the customer is to make it customizable - meaning a person could "dial" in the specific height that they needed for what the truck was being used for (sort of like the Grand Cherokee).
This may sound silly to some but I would like to have mode where a 4wd could sit lower like a 2wd truck for everyday work use and could sit higher if one choose to go off-road and needed clearance.
I guess the Kelderman suspension is the closest one can get but wow is it pricey!

Sounds like a good idea to me...be nice if you could keep about 4 or 5 settings in memory and plug them in, depending on what you need the lift for.

Yea, that sounds nice but now we have added something else into it that can/well fail. That is one of the reasons on our new 2014 Grand Cherokee I went with the Limited and not the Summit or the Overland. I didn't want anything to do with the height adjustable suspension.

^^^ well yeah, with newer technology comes the growing pains as we've seen on some of these trucks....bummer...but still a good idea...
