im from edmonton alberta Canada, im in the midts of buying a used 2010 2500 SLT 4x4 from a dealership in scotsdale AZ, Truck Max to be exact. the truck is used with 44,000miles or just over 70,000km, i was told by the dealer that the truck will need it's 60,000mile service done pretty soon. The service calls for a drain and refill of the coolant, drain and refill of the tranny fluid and a service done to the 4x4 driveline and the reax axel. does this really need to be done to a 2010 vehicle? it will cost me another $500 or so. can i wait till i have the truck for a bit and get this all done around 100,000 km or so? will it hurt to wait? i am new to the diesel world. thanks for any help!

also are there any things i should look at closely when i go inspect the truck and take it for a test drive?

i will do it but will it hurt to wait and do it a bit later? or is the 60,000 mile service very important? like if i wait will it wreck anything?

What was the truck used for? If you don't know, then Don't wait, it could have been used to tow boats and launch them in water, then rear diff could have milky gear oil from water. Did the old owner haul heavy loads and drove it hard? ,then tranny could be holding burnt fluid. At least check the fluids for condition. If they are super clean, don't smell(tranny) then you decide.

Is this an auto or a manual trans? If it was an auto, I would go ahead and do a fluid and filter change.

The other stuff, I wouldn't stress over. So, do it when you can. The coolant is extended life and should be good for 5 yr/100K miles (80K according to Chrysler).

I don't know why Chrysler uses synthetic gear oil but has such a short interval between rearend services.
