Why pay more for a biproduct?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the H**L we are paying more for Diesel, a biproduct of gasoline?

Is it so the money grubbers can charge more for heating costs?

On top of that when is the increase going to stop?

Personally i love driving my truck. I dont want to get rid of it. (This week :lol3:) I have a buddie that ownes a gas station and he tells me that Diesel fuel will be over 4 dollars a gallon by the first of the year.

Whats the logic in this besides the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep supporting them? Theres nothing you can do about it. You have to have it. It just sucks that you want to have a nice truck and it costs you a C-note to fill it up once a week.:$:

Whats yalls thoughts?

Is Diesel fuel not a biproduct of gasoline? For some reason i thought i heard that somewhere and it just stuck.

$110 fillup from empty fuel is $3.59 in northern illinois its b/s

Most people hear that and it sticks. But you can just as easily say that both gasoline and Diesel are a byproduct of asphalt and naphtha.

I try not to complain about fuel prices because I've never met anybody with a lucid understanding of everything involved. There's the "it's a conspiracy" guys, the "it's due to the future's market" guys, the "it's due to oil company price gouging" guys, the "it's due to environmentalist nazi" guys, the "it's due to China" guys, the "it's due to heating oil" guys, the "we all need to boycott Citgo on Thursday" guys, the "screw OPEC and Venezuela" guys, and many more.

I still don't understand how there can be a $.20 difference between two stations three blocks from each other.

Diesel is 113.6 per liter here, gas is 113.2. Generally costs about $80 for a fill up, around 70-80 liters. I think its supply and demand. When gas went way high everybody bought diesel's, now diesel is going up. It won't last, I wouldn't sell my trucks because of it.

I dont want to sell my truck but its hard to drive all day every day to work. Not that its anyones fault but mine. I just cant believe that as much as this country depends on transpertation and shipping that they are charging so damn much. I would hate to be a independent truck driver! Although they get to charge a "Fuel Ser Charge", it still hurts the pocket book. I filled up the other day and it cost me $98.00. I like to lost it!

A guy once said on here that the price of a barrel of oil was around 50 bucks 10 years ago and diesel was around 1.00 per gallon. If a barrel is currently double around 98 bucks then diesel should be 2.00 per gallon. Right? Whats up with this?

diesel pickups did not raise the demand to raise the price. Pickups are a drop in the bucket when compared to the volume of fuel used by everything else.!!!!

So when is the fuel companies going to cut us some freaking slack? Its getting to the point where i cant even go to the lake anymore. Truck costs 100 dollars. Boat costs 100+ and thats not even full. You may make it half a day with that.

Whats fun about that?

Is there a problem with supply and demand with Diesel fuel?

Toilet reading - Diesel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Part of the issue as explained to me by an engineer of sorts in that industry - ULSD.

Also, due to its high level of pollutants, diesel fuel must undergo additional filtration which contributes to a sometimes higher cost. In many parts of the United States and throughout the whole of the UK, diesel is higher priced than gasoline. Reasons for higher priced diesel include the shutdown of some refineries in the Gulf of Mexico, and the switch to ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD), which causes infrastructural complications.

$3.69 here in Kennett Square, PA. I'm at about $117 for a fillup. Someone above did state that it's worth more and you are partially right. For one, diesel has more thermal energy than gasoline. Basically, more BTU's per gallon so in theory, it could be deemed as being more valuable.

As for us getting a-raped over diesel fuel, it's just sick. But with so many people now moving to not just diesel trucks, but diesel cars, the demand for this once resented fuel is growing. The money grubbers see increased demand for something where there is not that much competition and you know the rest. Oh well, maybe I can work 90 hour weeks now to keep myself and my company on the road.

Im tellin yas. It will hit 4 dollars by the first of the year. Plus, everyone knows how it goes around the holidays. Youve got Thanks giving, X-mas, and New Years. This is going to hurt.

Don't forget that they re-refine diesel fuel in to gas any time their is a need for more gas. By turning diesel in to gas it has caused a shortage of diesel fuel and we all know that a low supply of diesel helps keep the price higher. If they couldn't turn diesel fuel in to gas there would be more of it available then there is at this time and in theory it would lower the price we pay for it. So we can blame some of the higher cost we pay for diesel fuel on the high demand for gas.

Seems like the price for everything is going through the roof. Wish Bush would be done with this freakin war. For more than one reason.
