Where did I go wrong with my new Mods

I hope I am posting this in the right place. I have a 2006 2500 4WD. The truck has and upgraded trans with a three disk converter, wilson intake manifold, AFE CAI, Superchips flashpad. I recently installed a 5in turbo back exhaust from FTE with a resonator, high tech turbo stainless steel exhaust manifold, Fass 150 and put new 265/75/17 Michellin LRR tires on the truck. Now my mileage has gone to . I have checked every thing I installed to make sure there are no leaks of any kind. I just towed my Jeep on a trailer to Sliverlake and I only got 13.85 hand calculated. I was getting better then that without the mods I just did. It just seems like the truck is just drinking the fuel. I also tow a trailer in town with my mowers and that mileage towing that trailer is . The truck has just turn 60,000. I did all the new mods to help my mileage not make it worst. Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

what was your mileage pulling these trailers BEFORE the mods?

you'll probably be in the throttle more with the extra pep and noise even subconciously

I was getting 13.5 to 14 towing my mowing trailer. Now I am getting under 12 with that trailer. I am very easy on the the skinny pedel. And the sound of my new exhaust is not as loud as the stock exhaust.

are these tires bigger than stock? if so have you re calibrated your speedo? that will make the odometer read off a little

have you made identical trips or trips while empty?

I did re calibrate my speedo. I made the trip once empty without the new mods and got about 19 to 20

hum... this is interesting...

have you changed your filters recently?

I just put the Fass 150 on when I did the HTT exhaust manifold and 5in turbo back exhaust.

I have the truck on tow tune

You've got a few things working against you...

Taller tires take more work to turn because you've lost leverage and they're possibly heavier

5" exhaust will actually slow down your exhaust velocities at low RPM and make the turbo spool slower

What's the stall on that converter? Is it tighter than stock? If it is, it will cause your turbo to spool slower as well because the rpms don't come up as fast. If you can't get the RPMs up you can't spool the turbo. With a heavily fueled tune, a heavy trailer, and a hill to start out on this can actually make it almost impossible to go anywhere.

All of these things would be pretty small change increments by themselves but when you add them up it could definitely cause you to use more throttle to get the same acceleration that you're used to. It doesn't take much more throttle input, especially with a tune that has reduced torque management and/or more aggressive low rpm fueling.

Are you getting any soot off the line when you're towing?

The tires are the same size as stock size. And the tires on LRR. I don t know what the stall is on the converter, it is suppose to be lower then stock. I start seeing boost at about 1500 rpms.

I don t see any soot off the line unless i get on the truck really hard.

So what do i need to do to get my mileage back?????

What gear does your truck have? I know 4.10's arent worth a damn when it comes to mileage but something is wrong. I dont think the 5" exhaust is the problem since you have Wallys resonator, I've got the same and it is a bit restrictive vs any other muffler. Have you checked to see if your making oil, maybe you have a bad injector or something (doubt it but worth a try) something isn't right to drop 7mpg just for pulling a trailer. BTW what size and weight trailer is it? If it's rather large then it could just be a big wind catcher. I'm not knocking superchips but I'd def invest in a smarty. The timing and adjustments are way better and your mileage will jump up a ton! My truck averaged 19mpg(8hrs empty/8hrs loaded lol) pulling back a volkswagon beetle diesel for my mom (I know it's not big or heavy) and my truck is on 35's with 4.10's and 6spd tranny. The truck has 3.73's.
Far as the trailer, I tow my Jeep on a open car hauler. Jeep and trailer weight may 4700 together.

My mowing trailer is 8x16 enclosed.Fully loaded may weight 4900. Towing on the mowing trailer is 90% city.

I have thought about getting a SMARTY but I don t want to spend the $$$$ and it not get my mileage back.

Nobody I know has a SMARTY. Most of my friends drive gas trucks.

Let me say 1st, i have no experience with EFI Live, but i have read that there are some awesome tow tunes that are getting a lot better mileage towing more weight then you. They are adding power and dropping the 3rd injector event. more power, cleaner oil, longer engine life. you might want to look into it.
I know if i had a 06 i would be all over it!

Do you guys think I may have a bad injector?? Could a bad injector cause bad fuel mileage??

What is the 3rd injector event that sr4440 is talking about??
