I was thinking it might be nice to have a list of data logging equipment for 3rd gens.
To keep this thread uncluttered could you please limit the reply's to the following:

1. What brand/type of data logger you use

2. What parameters you can record

3. The duration or length of time it can be in use

4. It's ability or inability to be downloaded onto a laptop (does it come with software to help you make sense of what you've recorded?) Does it use a memory card?

5. How has it worked for you? Would you buy it again? Can improvements be made on the design (what do you wish it could do)

Thanks

I have just purchased an Innovate Motorsports DL-32, with an OBDII reader and thermocouple reader. I have used OBDII reader stand-alone and recorded to a laptop. The only limit to record time is the hard drive memory on the computer. I have recorded over 45 minutes several times. The OBDII reader records (on my '03) RPM, Throttle Position, Engine Load, Manifold Pressure, Speed, Coolant temp, and Manifold Air Temp. The DL-32 has an SD card to record data, so I will not need to use the laptop once I get it installed. With the DL-32 and themocouple reader I will record: rail pressure, lift pump pressure, tubro drive pressure, air pressure at the turbo, air temp at the turbo, Pre-turbo EGT, Post-turbo EGT, and Post-intercooler air temp. There are several other data loggers out there but I chose this one for its ability to read the OBDII data(although it could have been better because my Banks PDA can read more information it just can't record it)

Thank you for the reply. I ran across the DL-32 that you're talking about a few days ago while I've been researching these things. They also sell analog gauges do they not? I was wondering if their whole setup was very similar to the performax line by Isspro? It seemed that when I was comparing the 2 Innovate had a better description of what their.......device? could offer. I'll have to look at them again.

I decided against PM'ing you, I'll just clutter up this thread as well :w:

Thanks for the other pertinent responses guys.

What about somthing that records timeing and duration. A so we can better tune for injectors, nitrous and water meth. PCS has a dash logger D200 which looks promising. I am currently setting up there PCS for my auto swap. The software and controlability is outstanding.

What about somthing that records timeing and duration Sounds good to me, any suggestions?. A so we can better tune for injectors, nitrous and water meth. PCS has a dash logger D200 which looks promising. I am currently setting up there PCS for my auto swap. The software and controlability is outstanding.
The site says 8 Programmable Analog Inputs. Can it also read from the OBDII connector? Might be a stupid question? Also if you wouldn't mind starting a thread (if you haven't already) about the D200 and sending me a link. I know it's a lot to ask, but getting this info. out there is going to help us all. And this is where I found the datalogger O and J Performance. Is that the Manufacturer?

I guess what I'm really looking for is something that can read and log it all. Everything! Maybe I would never use all of said device's capabilities, but it would be nice if I wanted to. Is this something you can use the Cummins Insite tool for? Anybody know?

Same here. I am tired of being at the mercy of others for tuning and not really knowing how much they are adding. The company that makes this one is
www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com The site seems to be little slow no matter what computer I am on. But I have talked to them about the PCS trans controller andthey sound like thet really know thier stuff. I can try to call monday and see about this. I have guages for everything but to know how the timeing is alterd with a TST would be great. especially ascross the whole RPM band. Next stop a stand alne ECM...... Still dreamingabout that!

Anybody made any headway, or have anything to report about their setup? I'm looking at a Dashdaq with the navigation feature, that way I can write the thing off. My only worry is that tweekers may try to steal it. Oh well I got insurance.....and guns.

Not sure if the Dashdaq will read from our ECM's though. Looks like it may do 2004-2006. Will have to wait to hear back from them. Also I'm wondering if I will be able to get the appropriate sensors to monitor FP, RP, Boost and EGT. Those are my main concerns. I also am wondering how much of a hassle it will be to take in and out of my rig? And what kind of wear and tear that may have on the connections?

Not a lot of info on that site. Do you use a laptop in the cab? And I assume you have to buy a bunch of sensors?

Haven't got into what all it will log and for how long but the Diablo Trinity does data logging and has a ton of parameters to monitor. Not sure what most fo them are but here's a list...

http://www.diablosport.com/images/MaxsNewOrganized/NewTrinityPage/Trinity_Pidlist.pdf

According to Diablo it has 100mb of memory and records hours of data.
I called about that trinity. IIRC they said you need to run their tuning to use the monitor.

Anyone else find anything or been looking at a certain product?

Well this is somewhat disappointing. Shibbyutman (forum member) went in to Drew Technologies (maker of the DashDaq monitor) for me and had a guy hook up a demo unit. This is the screenshot I was sent.

Not exactly what I was hoping for. I should note that the guy I was working with John is pretty sure that for the 2006+ trucks with CanBus the DashDaq would read a bunch more parameters.

Eff it......maybe I'll just go performax? The Navigation would have been a nice little bonus feature, oh well.

I'm running a Dashdaq on a 2007.5 6.7L Truck, here are the signals it sees:

Innovate Motorsports OT 2 .Check this out, this thing looks likewhat I have been searching for for years, monitor and record everything real time and very cheap, best part is I can display everything on my I phone or laptop which will give me about a 17" screan of gages. I will be buying one today, anyone with experience on this? Here is some links I found very helpful.
