Wait on EZ LYNK or go with MM3 or EFI?

First time getting a tuner/delete. I've been getting a ton of knowledge from this forum, thanks to all who contribute.

I just bought a 2012 Ram 3500 6.7 with about 69K on it. Recommended servicing of the EGR was at 67.5K and I was gonna do it myself, then noticed the exhaust brake no worky. So then I thought why not just delete? It still has 3 months of warranty so I figured I'd let the dealer look at it first and maybe get a new VGT before the warranty expires, I've read that they've been replacing them instead of cleaning em, that's next week.

I'm deleting whether I get a new VGT or not and have been reading non-stop about it.

Now for the $2000 question: Should I wait for EZ (website says within 30 days) or go with MM3 or EFI? Cost wise they're all about the same.

I want SOTF, trans tunes, and EGT monitoring. EZ doesn't have EGT monitoring or SOTF, yet.

Anyone go to EZ from EFI/MM3? Do you like it better or not?

Thanks

EZ has SOFT, check with Anarchy, PPEI, HPP ... they all have the option now. I'm waiting for the option to kill or adjust TPMS and change tire size.

From EZ website, Tire size adjusments update will be around 30 to 60 days. No news for EGT monitoring and TPMS adjusments.

Jorge said the tpms is in with the tire size adj.

x2 for the MM3. I like mine and they just updated the firmware to have better graphics.

There is a major update next week from Ez lynk. That's what I got from them when I asked for the tpms option and egt monitoring

Thank you for contacting EZ LYNK! We have not updated nor added this feature yet, but are moving back onto adding some of these Ram features after we release our major system update next week! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions.

I'm leaning towards MM3 w/ Anarchy tunes, would save me about $400 verses the EZ, but James says he likes the EZ. Decisions, decisions... Or maybe I wait till the EZ is available for the '12 and try to pickup a used MM3 from someone "upgrading" to the EZ.

By all means, get the dealer to warranty out your VGT, then go ahead and do your deletes.
I'm impressed with the EFI live and Trans Tuning on my '12.

BTW, I'm in Everett myself, but love the Anacortes area. Real nice out there.

It's a shame that the EZ lynk is not out for your year model, cause Anarchy are selling the Ez lynk with their tunes package and free trans tuning for a limited time.

What year & what other mods?

thx

Anarchy does make some strong tunes as well. Great transmission tuning too.. i personally don't like the idea of using my phone or tablet as guages.. the wireless deal has me worried of potentially being hacked with EZ, not that it will happen but, thats how i feel lol... The new bullydog tuner has pretty cool guages if you go EFI. Get the cp5 to be able to on the fly. I believe edge is capable of unlocking the ecm now? Not sure. But they have awesome guages

Where would the risk be on being hacked? You receive a tune via a cloud server with ez Lynk versus receiving it by email with any other platform? I just fail to see the risk and how it's any greater with ez Lynk versus anything else.

Yes Edge can unlock the ecm now.

I have a question, with a tuner if I put a CAI is there a way to cancel the CEL or intake services message the S&B CAI gives?

#18 ·
I will check that with my tuner. If he can do that with an Ez-lynk

I just cleaned out my EGR Valve last night, didn't have time to do the cooler, boy was it dirty! So much soot that the valve couldn't close all the way, what a joke of a system! I'm definitely getting rid of it after I try to get the most out of my warranty before it expires. Replaced the CCV filter as well, that was filthy too, felt like it has 1/2 a quart of oil in it.

The engine oil is nasty and it was changed a few hundred miles ago. Does this indicate a problem or is it a product of EGR system?

I'm heavily leaning toward Anarchy MM3 cause it's on sale at RSD, it'd be about $300-$400 less than EZ or EFI.

I'm planning on doing just a DPF delete pipe vice turbo back. From what I've read leaving the CAT and muffler in place doesn't really affect performance, I'm not gonna be racing or anything.

Man, some of you guys have some sweet mods on your truck, I'll get there eventually, I guess this truck is my new BOAT (bring on another thousand)!

Look at all the vehicles that were hacked in the movie Fast and Furious 8!!! ?

EZ lynk is good, I've had it for about a week, I have 5 tunes with shift on the fly via the 5 position switch, and transmission tuning, its a cool platform with tons of PIDS you can monitor, is a scan tool itself, you can use any android or iOS screen and they say they have wheel tire size correction coming within 30-60 days

Edit: PS the whole talk about being hacked is just silly. Everytime you get new tunes from your tuner you have to plug into the diagnostic port in the engine bay and re-flash the ECU, then you use your switch to shift on the fly. The signals are sent from the module to your display over wifi with WPA encryption (almost impossible to hack) and even if it could somehow be hacked the only thing someone could do is maybe read your boost pressure? Not getting an EZ lynk because of fear of being hacked is completely ridiculous in my opinion.

I hope it never happens

Hacking icloud is an old story :/ matter fact its still going on with big threats recently in march i think... But, it is the internet so who knows. At the end of the day either of the 3 tuning platforms are great. I just prefer mm3 for an all in one unit. It doesn't take long to take the sd card from the mm3 and copy the files from email to sd card.. for me, its more practical and easy. I use an edge pillar mount and all is good

I'll never get hacked; no one would want a nude photo of me! Matter of fact, if a hacker somehow found a pic, they would probably give me advice on how to make my info more secure.

I have a question not related to hacking, if I have SOTF tunes with my Ez-lynk and I don't have the sSOTF switch yet, How to I change tunes? Do I need to wait for the switch to arrive before I can flash the tune? Thank you

#51 ·
Without the switch you have to load each tune individually when you want to change. Doesn't take long to do at all but you'll need the switch if your wanting to utilize the sotf tuning. I personally have the switch and sotf tuning but chose to just load the single tune and leave it there. Installed the switch but have yet to use it.

Well I e-mailed anarchy and told them that I broke the one I had before I flashed the tune, and was waiting for another one coming in, in a week or so. They send me in the same half hour 2 single tunes so I can delete my truck and tune it this friday. What a service those guys give. It is top notch. Thank you
