You have a cable going to the back side of your transmission.

Thanks. Does it have a speed sensor or a cable? 95 degrees and it was very unpleasant crawling under the greasy side. I couldn't get a look at the area above the rear cross member.

I said cable.

 

It's a mechanical gear drive off the trans that immediately converts to electric signal.

If by chance it's an 89, the mechanical cable goes right to the dash.

 

I know you did, but I don't see a cable going to the speedo. It stops at the cruise control, nothing going behind the speedo. Also, no application shown for a 1990 D350.

They wouldn't have done a different application just for the 1 ton. The only way your really going to know is the crawl under there. Could be something simple like the cable or plug if electronic came off.

 

My 89 has a mechanical cable. My two 90's have the electric transducers. (All diesel d250s). It's also the switch from 5 digit to 6 digit odometer.

 

My 90 and both 90s I robbed parts from have electronic speedometer clusters.

 

OK, my 1990 has the 6 digit odo too.
To get any better look at things, it must go up on the lift. I was hoping I could order parts before I move everything around.

These Dodges are well known for busted Speedometer gears in the cluster, broken wires if electronic or broken cable if cable driven. That would be alot of parts to unnecessarily order without troubleshooting first.

 

My Buddy Chuck had a good cry when he sold me his truck. Thanks for your help.
