Well here is the story. Yesterday after fueling up I added 8oz. Of power service to a full tank since it was to be single digits last night. This morning I started the truck with no symptoms of anything wrong let it warm up about 5-10 mins jumped in and started to back up and noticed a cloud of white smoke. Just to make sure I went down the street and every time I touched the throttle I got a small puff of white. Do you guys think its an injector? Could the power service have cause this? :banghead:

try plugging it in and then starting it up and driving. don't let it idle and warm up for that 5 to 10 minutes, just get good oil press. see if it still does it then

if you can't plug it in then just start it. get good oil pressure and then start out slow and let the truck warm itself up. see if it still does it. report findings

I sure will this is my DD and unfortunately I have to work this evening it's a 14 mile trip . Think I should try taking it? I would hate to wash down a cylinder.

truck should have a miss if the injector is stuck open, normal in cold weather to see"smoke" if injector problem you should also be able to smell diesel

Injector hanging and injecting after it should is the normal white smoke issue. If i comes and goes with the throttle its pretty definitive.

Power service is good for a lot of things but it could use help, a quart of 2 stroke oil is more lube.

If you have time SeaFoam or MMO in the filter housing and run for a mintue then let sit overnight will sometimes unstick things thta are gummed up. If it is damage then it won't help.

Unless you are talking -60 F then, no. The cold plays a part in issues showing up but not in the actual source. If there is an injector problem it will be there at 0 or 100 degrees, it just manifests differently in the temp change.

If the smoke lessens as it warms up, could be caused by advanced timing. Some fuel additive chemistries may advance the combustion timing and may cause havoc on the common rail injection systems normal function. If the smoke and noise don't get out of hand, continue operation until you are down to half tank, then fill up with only diesel to dilute the additive ratio. If the smoke and noise increases, get it scanned ASAP.

Took it for a drive had white smoke at start up temp is 0 degrees with wind chill no loss of power no smell of diesel and it is not making oil. I'm starting to think maybe it is the temps. Would a little water in the fuel cause this?

you better hope you aint runnin that much water through. if it doesnt smell like raw fuel i wouldnt worry about it.

I have been using power service in my truck for 140,000 miles. I doubt it caused any problems. White bottle in the winter and silver bottle in the summer. My truck put on a pretty good smoke show a few years ago at -4f after sitting a work for 12 hours. The smoke quit after a few minutes on high idle.

White Smoke at Start Up !!! Mine is now missing and white smoke at start up. I have 2k miles on a set of NEW injectors and New tubes. It clears up after about 3 miniutes of driving. It starts just fine with no smoke until the engine cools then back to missing and white smoke. No CEL.

Injector sticking?
