Turbo and injector advice

So to start off my stock exhaust manifold cracked and I asked one of my buddies who also has a second GEN what replacement I should get he recommended me a T4 (keep in mind I am running stock turbo) at the time I had no clue about the difference between a t3 and a T4 then proceeded to tap into the manifold to put my EGT probe in and then realized that my turbo wouldn't line up because it's a T3 so then I decided I'm might as well upgrade my turbo because I was planning on doing it in the near future

anyway I ordered the smeding S362 (.83 a/r) and a HX 40 down pipe but now after a lot more research I'm realizing that I'm gonna need a lot more supporting mods and way pretty big injectors to support this turbo comfortably and reliably so now I'm realizing my decision with the S362 might not be right and I'm thinking of getting a Fenly s360, for a quicker spool and better fuel economy without having to go to giant injectors. Aswell as selling my T4 manifold and getting a T3, I watched a couple YouTube videos and they were recommending 150 HP injectors and also getting valve springs and pushrods, I'm not opposed to this, but I need to run the fenly S360 with stock injectors until I can make enough money working to get bigger injectors, do y'all think I will be good to run the S360 with stock injectors stock valve springs and pushrods for a couple months, or should I just scrap that whole idea and stick with the S362 I have right now. ( I'm 16 years old and new ish to diesels so if I said something stupid keep that in mind)

For one, stay away from Smeding. It’s all Chinese junk there. Cancel it if you can.

I have an HE351 with the HX40 turbine and billet comp wheel…Keep in mind, it’s still considered a "small" turbo. Spool can be slightly laggy at times still, EGTs can get out of hand, but that’s more due to injectors and tuning. Basically, don’t go too big unless you are racing.

With all that considered, if this is your primary transportation, you should keep the truck stock for now. I understand that you are 16 and want to achieve things and whatnot, but patience is importance. With an expensive turbo and big injectors, your transmission will need work. Lots of $$$ to have a decent setup.

Later on when you have time and some cash, I would look into lightly used turbos. Not big ones. Try out a setup to see how it runs. Personally, I would sell the T4 manifold and buy a T3. T3s flow more than enough. Also, T4 turbos are notorious for having no wastegates, and that is bad unless the truck is a toy.

There’s nothing worse than spending thousands of hard earned cash and ending up with a poor performing pig… or dead pig!

I've done some more research and couldn't agree more. I'm gonna try to sell the t4 but in the meantime I'm gonna get a t3 with the money I got, but.... since I already ordered the turbo and they already shipped it to me they won't give me a full refund and they're taking 30% of what I paid so I'm gonna go with one of the T3 easy drop in 60 mm turbos witch I can run on stock injectors

I agree with the above. I would send back the turbo and just get the right T3 one and be done. Then save up money for the rest and repairs along the way. Once you do bigger turbo then bigger injectors then tuner.. then you will need a transmission. Then you'll need to redo suspension or something and the list goes on. Nothing wrong with all that, I am going to eventually do it too, but build you up a fund to do it.

Also because I am dealing with this right now.. something you should do is add a relay on the fuel pump. Apparently the trigger wire goes directly to the ECM and over time can burn out the solder then you have no fuel pressure.

IF you dont have at least fuel gauges on the truck do that.

Link to what I used to do the relay.

With all that said if you have the money then by all means, what do you have to spend and maybe we can give recommendations.
