Hey guys I just wanted to get some feedback on you guys who have installed double disk clutches. I ordered my SB DD 3250 and i want to be ready to install when it comes in. So how hard is it really to install is it like installing a regular clutch, becuse i can do that. :confused013:

does that come with the kit?

For the most part it's very similar to any other clutch install. The only real advise I can give is that when you are installing the pressure plate, make sure to hold up on the alignment tool to keep it centered otherwise the discs will sag and bind the alignment tool making it nearly impossible to get out. It took me a while to figure this out but once I did, it made things much easier....

Hopefully i get the clutch in the mail this week!! Hey did you guys pull the t case off the tranny?

I pulled mine as one unit. I really didn't want to have to drain fluids. It was a little bit of a pain but I rented a tranny jack so it wasn't too bad. The worst part was that you can't get the jack back far enough to balance it until you have the cross member out. I ended up using a ratched strap around the front of the tranny to help keep it balanced.

When u get the input shaft stabbed, it will start to bind up just before the bellhousing seats home. Have your helper push the clutch pedal to loosen things up and help you get to the final stretch.

thanks guys i cant wait till i get it in!!! is the Pivot ball part of the clutch linkage?

read the instructions!! i had the dumb asses at dealer put mine in, (under warranty) and i am sure they didnt read em, now my release bearing is super noisey, i found the install instructions and it say be sure to put the release arm in right or it will be noisey, now i have to pull the trans to fix it, (they wont do it again) and i dont want them under there anyways

oh yea, the solid flywheel made my trans very noisey too, i am interested in a fluid dampner now, they say it will reduce trans noise by 80%, any input on this??

ok just got the clutch in the mail! I am going to install it on tuesday. Hey does anyone know where i can get a repair manual for this truck that might help on the install too...

FYI.... U can keep the trans and t-case together u don't even need to remove it completely just remove the cross member and slide it back as far as u can. Ur going to look at the stock pressure plate assembly and say to ur self " were the hell are the bolts to take this thing off?". The bolts are on the back side of the presssure plate, there's an access hole on the lower right side of the motor. Ull have to turn over the motor by hand to get to each bolt. After that install the new clutch assembly. Now when u put the trans back in ull get it in and have about 1/2-1 inch left to go and it'll fell like it's binding up. What I did was make sure the trans was squared up and I put in the trans to motor bolts and ran them in evenly untill tight, then backed them off to make sure everything went in ok after that install ur upgraded hydraulics and ur ready to roll. The clutch will be very grabby at first ull probably stall a few times but once it weres in it'll feel better. Make sure u break it in good no slipping the clutch power, speed or hard shifting for the first 500 miles. Any more questions? Pm me

How many miles did you have on your stock clutch? I believe my clutch is starting to fade and slip and I have 41000 miles on it.

Ok dont laugh but i had 18,000 miles. I ran the 120 hp tune for awhile and thats when the clutch started to give way. :S:

The instructions for my SBC said I had to notch out some of the webbing inside the bell housing. So, don't forget that. I had trouble getting my back in, the last inch or so was a pain! As stated above, I also used the tranny bolts to help suck it on completely. Good luck!

ok got it installed yesterday morning. Man it ws kind of tough stabbing the tranny... Just wanted to say thanks for all your guys tips for this installation. On a side note if you order any perfomance parts go through black tek diesel performance. Matt owns the place and he is super smart when it comes to these 6.7's. He helped me out alot! Thanks Matt!!

These guts are flirting w/danger by using bell housing bolts to suck up the trans to the motor. It only takes something small to bind in there and snap. Have you ever seen a six hole/bolt housing w/ only five bolts holding it in? Thats the result of "sucking it up w/bolts"
