i know they put 136 amp and 160 amp in the 5.7 hemi's
so with the diesel having 2 batteries i would guess that its 160 amp, but im not 100% certain.

 

i thought only the durango got the 160 amp..

 

the trucks, durango, nitro, and the aspen all came with a 160 amp option

an 06 has a 135 amp

looked up a 04 and its a 135 also

It doesn't matter that it has 2 batteries.

XDP has high output alternators. You could also look for someone in your area to rewind your current one for more amps too.

I have contact two diff business' and both said the charging cables all need to be upgraded.......

I was hoping for an bolt on upgrade!

 

its def a good idea. ill bet if you replace the cable alone you will notice your lights dim less and you have less charging problems.

 

Can I just replace the one charging cable from the alternator to one battery, or do both cables on both batteries need to be upgraded?

 

i honestly havent payed attention to the size of the wire connecting the two batteries on my thrid gen, but on my 2nd gen the wire was massive, while the alt cable was smaller. if thats the case, you may see a difference just upgrading the one, but if they are both small, do them both. also, dont forget the ground wires. those are important as well. you may even want to consider adding a ground cable for the alternator. seems like a lot of work but it does make a difference.
