Think idi can't make big horsepower?Back in the early 1990s, max Lagod of Hypermax put together an extraordinary engine package for a customer yearning to compete in sled pulling. With nothing holding him back, Lagod designed a 7.3L that included two Garrett turbos (which were state-of-the-art then but probably not manufactured anymore), a Bosch inline P-pump, custom injectors, a fabricated intake and exhaust manifolds, and slight cylinder head work.

Surprisingly, much of the factory engine components were retained, such as the crankshaft, block, and pistons-although the connecting rods were heat-treated. Compression on the engine was 15:1, which called for ether-assisted startups. Soon after entering this wild IDI into area-sanctioned sled pulling events, the engine was banned. Not to be discouraged, the owner turned to drag racing. Rumor has it that the truck graced with this 7.3L beast put out 1,200 hp and ran quarter-mile times in the 9-second range!

Yes I will 12's are easy in 6 liters. 11's and 10's thats what is hard. my trucks twin ran 12.76 with tune nitrous intake and exhaust. Total investment in performance parts was 1500 dollars. So far I have a 250 dollar intake a 350 dollar exhaust soon all I need now is nitrous and a xtreme tune for my truck and well see how quick she goes at the track.

for every PSD out there making over 600HP there are 3-4 Duramax's and Cummins making 700HP or more.
now if you are after respect building a 700HP PSD will get you that vs with a Duramax or Cummins not so much..
i know of hundreds of Cummins and Duramax's runnin low 12's on all motor and completly stock engine parts.
in the end the only PSD thats giving the tuner only Duramax and Cummins guys is the 6.4L PSD with the Spartan tunes(Bottles are for Baby's).

the only bigtime PSD's out there are the 7.3's..Wide Open Performance has that white truck and is also building a rail dragster thats suppose to make 1500+HP.
Double Overtime and Strokeout.
bigtime Duramax's from OH,PowerMax Exspress,Climax.thats all that comes to mind right now
bigtime Cummins from OH,Haisley Machine,EEP and i cant think of the others

my first diesel was a 99 powerstroke-I loved it- because it was a diesel. That POS left me stranded 7 times in 2 years . It was towed 8 times....and the 7.3 was one of the better engines they put out... good luck is all I have to say...built ford tough:lol3:

Nitrous is way too easy, I consider it a cheater.
Also you deleted the second part of that write up in diesel power.
That "IDI 1200HP, 9sec" engine was plagued with reliability issues, it spent more time getting fixed than running.
