Hi All! Questions and Advice Request.

Last Sunday, I drove my 2018 2500 Tradesman CTD with no issues...pretty 70 degree day. Got in it last night...28 degrees and dry with 25mph wind gusts all day...cycled the heater, started up fine and BAM!!! Dash Lights for days!!! Messages popped up: Service Antilock Brake System, Service Electronic Braking System and 4WD System Temporarily Unavailable. I drove the truck up to normal operating temperature, no issues other than I could tell the ABS was deactivated and the 4wd wouldn't engage when attempted, Stopped, cycled the startup process and got the same messages and lights. Tried it a couple of more times...no change.

Sucks being in extreme weather conditions (for our state) and not capable of 4WD engagement this side of starting with selector engaged.

Is there anything I can do this side of taking it to the dealership? Has anything like this happened to any of you? Checked with a friend that has the same truck a couple of years older that lived through Montana winters and he's never had these issues.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Last night when it was 17 degrees here I got a message that my truck was in Battery power saving mode or something like that!! You should have gotten a message like that as it sound like your batteries are being affected by the cold temps. You may need to take it to the dealer or they could go away after some key cycles. any codes?

Often when all your trouble lights go off it's weak batteries. Especially when it's cold.
Have them individually load tested to see. Some dealers will replace them for free under warranty if bad.
Had mine replaced for free, but my batteries were so dead the truck wouldn't start and had to be towed to the dealer.
And never leave the truck for more than 2-3 weeks without plugging in a battery tender. I had left mine for 5-6 weeks.

Could be several things...mostly all tied to the ABS system. Could be the fuse or a ABS sensor thats bad. Thats what mine is, ABS sensor is fried. Does the same thing but I can at least go into 4wd-hi but for some reason won't go into 4-lo

That's typically an ABS wheel speed sensor. Wheel speed data feeds into all 4 systems from what I know.

Thanks for the advice, y'all. I'm at just 19K miles on the truck and I drive it at least once a week...I have a commuter for work. I do know batteries can fail at anytime and dual battery units can sometimes mask issues. I'm going to probably just take it to the dealership asap and hope everything is covered under 3/36...its just a pain in the azz , considering. I'm going to check for the codes this evening and I will update y'all on what I find.

Thanks again for all of your help!

UPDATE: Got in this evening and tried to pull codes.... inserted key, cycled 3 times, mileage went off and the ————— came up for the codes to print. Waited. “-DONE-“. No codes. 🏼 Started it up and still got all of the same messages. Drove it up to temp and put it to bed. No additional messages.
Guess I’m just going to take it to the dealership ASAP, unless y’all can think of anything else.
Again, much thanks!

Better off just taking it to the dealer if you’re under warranty. First off, the ignition method doesn’t work for pulling codes on 2013+. Second, most common code readers, like the ones at auto parts stores, cheap online apps, and monitors with built in scanners won’t pull all the faults you’re looking for, because they can’t connect to the abs module or most other modules.
