put in a homemade lock up switch tonight. did it according to this link http://www.tstproducts.com/Torque Converter Lockup Switch.pdf [/URL] at first i didnt hook up the third post on the toggle to an illumination source. but the light came on by itself when i turned it to the on position. thought this was strange. it didnt change a thing. my tc still came unlocked when i gave it a little juice goin up a hill in overdrive and it still unlocked coastin down a hill with the switch on. i came back and checked all my connections and hooked up the illumination post to a 12v source.

when i'm coasting and the switch is on, it lights up. but its not locked, still coasting. and as soon as i touch the pedal the light turns off and my truck acts the same with the switch on or off. i need help:confused013: any input greatly appreciated. especially someone who has done this before with a 99. i put the switch in because i'm trying to preserve the life of my tranny because my tc has been acting up lately.

oh and some one told me that my tc actin up while in overdrive could be a bad throttle position sensor???

thanks guys

first off make sure you have the right wire. on my 99 there were 2 org/blk wires if i remember right. You want the one that does not have power to it when you turn the key on.

I wired mine a little differently than the tst one. I used a 33ohm resistor in between the switch and and ground. that way you dont have to use the jumper and it wont throw a code.

Wow, how did you figure out the 33 ohm resistor will work there? and it will not matter if it is pre or post the switch will it???

but awsome work either way figuring out this little way to make this work even better...

what you said about the wire made perfect sense because that must be why the light was coming on without the illumination post hooked up. but i cant find another wire that is orange with a black stripe on the same harness? is it on a different harness? that would be great if you could take a look and let me know. i found another wire that was just solid orange and hooked it up but it didnt lock my converter either. thanks a ton

:shock:Be careful grabbing random wires and putting them to ground not knowing what they are doing!!!

well now i cant find it. anyway its real easy i just did it. get the 33ohm'ers (271-1104), a 2pole toggle 20a. tap the orange wire with black line coming from the ecm on the fire wall. its in the white connecter in the middle.

then run that to the switch and the other side of the switch goes to the ground. the resister goes in the ground leg. thats all there is to it.
