Performance Injectors vs. Performance nozzles on Stock Bodies

Ok, I've been thinking about replacing my stock injectors with a comlete performance injector body with nozzles, or just buying performance nozzles and keeping my stock bodies. Right now just thinking about 100hp injectors or nozzles. What is the "best" way to go. The cost between the two is what makes me think the whole injector body is the best way to go becase it costs nearly 3 times as just nozzles, which makes me think its a far safer and a better way to make power. Is there a difference in power between whole injectors vs just nozzles? Will the stock bodies hold up with just performance nozzles on (i.e. not crack)? I luckily just had all 6 injectors replaced under warranty, whew!, but now want to take preventative measures on my own. Also are the f1 flux brand injectors, or just nozzles? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Since you just had your injectors replaced theres no need to get new injectors, just get the nozzles. Plus it will be about 2500 bucks cheaper. If you purchace aftermarket injectors from lets say DDP or Industrial they still use stock bodies the only thing different is the nozzles. Your stock injectors will be fine with aftermarket nozzles. If you want your injectors to live a long happy life step up the filtration to a 2 mic setup.

Old thread but what is a 2 mic setup?

There is no such thing as a performance injector, only nozzles. If somebody is claiming that RUN don't walk away!

Since you just had new injectors put in, a set of nozzles should do you nicely.

Thanks guys for the input, thats a lot clearer now. Anyone know much about the flux nozzles? I'd like to get the 100hp flux 2's, but F1diesel's website suggest you have a modified cp3. Anyone running them without a modded cp3. With the items in my sig. do you think i would be safe keeping my stock cp3 and getting the flux 2's? Thanks.

With higher hp nozzles they pass more fuel and the stock cp3 cant meet the demand. With a 100hp nozzle the fuel wont be atomized enough and your egts will be high and performance will suffer. You should look into a cp3 upgrade like a Arson III kit. I installed this on mine and its well worth the money. Here is a link to Wickeds site WICKED DIESELS, WICKED DIESEL

DODGE74 - The Arson III may be just what I'm looking for to help with 100 hp nozzles. I can't believe its only $395. Do they just send the kit out to you, or did you have to send in your cp3? I have the AirDog 100 setup, but when adding this will you see any drop in fuel pressure? Also, your sig has G.D.P big line kit, where is this used exactly in the fuel setup, and did you have to do any modifying with your Airdog? Thanks again for all your help!

Would you get better filtration if you went with a bigger fuel can? Or is that not fessible?

Yes, I do tow and when I do it is usually fairly heavy (10,000lbs). My PS62 has a 14cm exhaust housing that cools it pretty good when the boost is up (25-35psi) and usually only goes around 1000 or 1100 at the most on egts. Where can I expect egts in this same scenario with 90's or flux 2's?

great thread.. i was just wondering.. im completely stock besides an intake and exhaust.. if i upgraded to 90hp nozzles all i would need is the Arson III kit? on my stock pump and everything?

stock pump will struggle to keep up with them in my opinion, especially with an arson 3 kit installed. You also need to remember that our fuel systems on the (HPCR) High Pressure Common Rail trucks are very suspect to dirty fuel. A good 2 micron filter is very important, which i found out the hard way. Also, a fuel presure gauge can help also in determining filter replacement time as well. If your fuel filter gets completely clogged and hinders your performance very noticably, then you will be letting a lot of conatminates pass the filter. The fuel pressure gauge can be used to determine if your lift pump is keeping up as well.

would that just be an Air Dog 150gph or less? if i got a kit it would delete the old pump completely rite? i would have lines under the hood and my pump mounted underneath? AD 150 kit / Arson III kit / and the 90hp Injector Nozzles would be good and work together, correct or no?

I think that would be a good setup. Couple of ways that can work.

1. You can install the relay that comes with most kits to make the fuel pump work when the key is switched on, and delete the factory lift pump. This is what I did.

2. Install new kit, and leave factory lift pump installed on truck, but bypass it to the filter housing, that way if your new system ever went down, you would ahve a backup lift pump for emergency that would be simple to reconnect on the side of the road using a flat head screwdriver.

3. Or you could order the big line kit with the new fuel system, which replaces all fuel lines from tank all the way to CP3.

I have a system where I just cut into the factory steel lines and used them. I am not going for large horsepower, so no need for larger fuel line.

same here with the power. i plan on this fuel system, front mount with intake manifold, and smarty, on top of what i have now and thats all i want.. so with the bypass kit which sounds safer and cheaper is that a kit or just look up threads on how to?

should be a couple fo threads showing how people did it.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten an airdog from day one for my truck. Instead, I put on a walbro 392 fuel pump, and I just now have added a stand alone 2 micron filter setup.

Cost is actually about the same. I can however get a replacement pump for less if this one ever goes out.

90s seem to work best with a 62 just keep in mind the more pressure you have the better the fuel will atomize (to a point) I liked my 85percent CP3 I got from industrial when I had 90s and a 62mm.

100s will work with a pump upgrade and adjusting your programing properley

Stand for 2 micron. Check out glacier diesel performance or some other sites that have kits to add a 2 micron filter. The stock fuel filter can only filter up to 5 micron. These injectors demand clean fuel so people put 2 micron filters after or before the stock canister to help clean up the fuel
