P0713 - Trying figure out if I created the issue or bad parts.

Hello Team-

I have a reoccurring issue of the P0713 code popping up. There is a bit to the story. I don't know if I am the cause of it or if it is a parts issue of some sort. It all started a few years ago when I deleted / tuned and installed a new transmission in my truck.
When I deleted the truck and removed all the EGR/DEF systems I also removed as much as the wire harness for those systems as I could. In doing that I found out you need to have the exhaust differential pressure sensor hooked up still. If you remove that sensor the APPS 2 wire will not be happy and that messes up your throttle since they are both tired to the same system for power. I got that issue figured out, but I can’t help but feel that the P0713 code might be caused from me removing the unused sensors and wire harness. I made sure all the wires were capped off and protected. All the chassis grounds are intact.

Looking at the wire diagrams I don’t see where the transmission fluid temp sensor could be tied to anything I removed in EGR/DEF wire harness.

Transmission temp signal wire – DG/OG T54
Ground wire – DB/DG K900

So, I can't figure out why the code keeps popping up? The sensor reads fine after its cycles. When I first start the truck the trans temp sensor reads 1021 degrees F for a few seconds then it cycles / resets. Then the sensor starts to show the correct temp. When the correct temp starts being displayed the truck dings and the CEL comes on. I can turn the truck off clear the code and the code will stay gone for that run cycle. But the next time I start the truck the code pop again and generate the CEL.
I have checked the connectors, and it all appears to be fine. No corrosion or loose wires. I haven’t taken the connector apart yet. I hate wiring so I have just been putting that off. I have also considered buying a new transmission wire harness. But if the issue causing this is from the wires I removed or another issue entirely a new trans wire harness will not fix the problem nor will a new solenoid pack
I did everything all at once. Delete, tuning, turbo, trans and fuel all at the same time. So, it’s like a what came first the chicken or the egg situation. It might be wiring, might be the solenoid pack and or I might need to re load my tunes? Probably not the tune re load but I want to cover all corners of it.

(A side note: Time to time will get a P0933 code. The code clears every time. It happens when I shift into reverse and then back into drive. Seem to only really happen when the transmission is 140 degrees and above. I get a hard shift into drive and the code pops up. I clear the code and its fine. So, I don’t know if the P0933 that pops up sometimes has anything to do with the P0713? Maybe... It could more likely be the sensor is going bad. I just ordered a new one to see if that is the cure.)

I am kind of stuck on what I should do. I have thought about replacing the wire harness, trying another solenoid pack and maybe just clearing everything and reload my tunes?

I tried to send @TransEngineer a message and I was not able to. I guess I don’t have enough street credit on this sight to send PMs. I also saw he is retired now. Congrats to that!!

I would love to pick his brain or someone else’s.

So, any wire / transmission experts I would greatly appreciate your help and input. I am pretty set on trying to figure out this myself and not take it to a shop. If someone was able to help me out, I would have no problem paying for your help / diagnosing time if we needed to speak over the phone or I took too much of your time.

Thank you for your time and help guys!

Not sure if this will help but here goes.

Im new to the delete world and I just full deleted my 16 and was told by the tuner under no circumstance cut, modify or reroute(other than cosmetically) disconnected sensor(s) or the harness that have been coded out in the tune as the tunes base file still needs to send signal voltage to that sensor. He also said you have to either wreap or better yet install plugs to ensure condensation/corrosion wont build up inside the plug caps or that will short circuit and cause MIL and possibly trigger CEL-limp mode.

I have been told that and I have been told the senors that are coded out no longer get any power and or signal. I lean towards my issue being more a solenoid pack issue than wiring. I just can not connect the dots there. But it has been documented a bunch that the C4 connector to the solenoid pack can be an issue. I need to cross that off. I just got a fairly nice scanner to help me better understand things going on. Time will tell. I thank you for your response.
