So here is a puzzler and a few questions:
2014 Tradesman 6.7-170K, auto
Had P026B code come up twice in past year, Cummins mechanic told me to run 2 qts of Mopar Injector Cleaner through it before I do anything, did that, has been over 6 months now and truck runs fine.

2 months ago fuel gauge starts acting up, not reading correctly on/off

Nov 24th I'm towing a 2000lb pontoon boat home 300 miles and noticing excessive DEF usage, stop after 150 miles to fill up with diesel and still have 3/4 tank DEF.

By the time I got home (cruise set at 74) after 150 miles I am on 1/8 tank fuel and DEF tank is blinking with warning light, stop immediately and fill DEF tank-puzzling I say ???

Next day I smell diesel so I crawl under truck to find rear mounted fuel filter (Mopar brand changed in last 6 months) RUSTED OUT !! and leaking diesel. I change that immediately and fill up next day, fuel gauge goes whacky from empty to full like 3 times that day, then next day I get check engine light and "Fuel sender failure" flash on screen.

I pulled these 2 codes , P203F (low DEF) and P026B (fuel qty error).

Question
1. Would I assume a hole in fuel filter would explain fuel usage, I assume under pressure it would be spraying out.
2. Would I assume the excessive fuel usage would be picked up by ECM and therefore telling it to spray more DEF?
3 Would either of these have triggered the P026B code, possibly from failing fuel pump?
4 Is it worth the time to pull injectors and have tested, $60 each at local shop

I am replacing the fuel pump/sender with new Delphi this Saturday (along with ball joints, wheel bearings, u joints, drag links)

Sound like I'm on the right track?

TIA

Jim
