I changed my fluid this weekend. I installed the PTO cover type filter also from Eaton/Fuller PN Ful K1444. I used the Mopar Fluid PN 4874464.

My observations:

Bolts on PTO cover 14MM hex heads.

Plan ahead and shop for the Mopar fluid online (if you decide to use it). I paid 13.35 from my local dealer per quart!

Don't use the cork gasket that comes with the kit. Use good RTV sealant/gasket maker. I split the cork slightly during final tightening on my first go around (even though I new better). Ended up draining the contents again and going with RTV only under the base cover and using RTV along with the thin gasket between the base and the filter cover. No leaks now.

The truck has 99+K miles. My impression is that the fluid had been changed before based on the PTO covers.

No leaks were apparent from before changing the fluid.

The truck was shifting pretty well cold but after reaching operating temperature 3rd and 5th were a little difficult and made noise occasionally.

After changing the fluid, and when empting the removed fluid into 1 gallon oil containers I noted the entire contents fit into one -1 gallon jug (only 4 quarts in there) meaning the trany was low by at least a quart. (5 quarts called for)

I filled with 6 quarts and the trany now shifts like I expect it to.

I used a small plastic oil pump for gear oil that you can buy at the chain auto stores. You need a small tube to fit into the PTO cover bolt hole.
